Biosorpsi Zat Warna Methylene Blue oleh Aspergillus niger

Subyekti, Novia Rina (2020) Biosorpsi Zat Warna Methylene Blue oleh Aspergillus niger. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

English Abstract

The textile industry causes environmental pollution, especially in the batik industry which produces waste from synthetic dyes. One of the synthetic dyes used is methylene blue. Methylene blue contains cationic thiazine dyes which are considered as water pollutants, are very toxic, carcinogenic, and mutagenic. Biosorption is technique that used to remove or to reduce pollutants. In this current study, biosorbent used is from fungi. Aspergillus niger can reduce the color content of liquid waste by adsorbing and secreting extracellular enzymes. The biosorption process is affected by several factors, including temperature, pH of the solution, contact time, and the concentration of the solution. This study is focused on determining the optimum conditions of the pH of the solution and contact time of the solution of the dye. The solution of methylene blue dyes was adsorbed at pH 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 with a contact time of 10, 15, 20 and 25 hours. The absorbance of the solutions before and after adsorption was measured using a visible spectrophotometer. In this study, biosorption results were obtained in optimum conditions at pH 6 with a contact time of 25 hours and percent adsorption of 67,53%.
