Abstract
Pengecatan lambung kapal menjadi pilihan terbaik yang terbukti mampu menghambat laju korosi lambung kapal yang terbuat dari material ASTM A36. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh dari metode pengecatan terhadap kekuatan lapisan pengecatan dan laju korosi pada material ASTM A36. Pengerjaan pengecatan yang berbeda menghasilkan kualitas lapisan yang berbeda dari segi laju korosi dan kekuatan rekat lapisan cat. Pengerjaan spray dan hand roll dipilih dalam 4 variasi. Spesimen 1 variasi pengerjaan spray dan spray menghasilkan laju korosi 0,057 mmpy dan 7,35 Mpa. Spesimen 2 variasi pengerjaan spray dan hand roll menghasilkan laju korosi 0,034 mmpy dan 5,40 Mpa. Spesimen 3 variasi pengerjaan hand roll dan spray menghasilkan laju korosi 0,030 mmpy dan 13,05 Mpa. Spesimen 4 variasi pengerjaan hand roll dan hand roll menghasilkan laju korosi 0,028 mmpy dan 11,41 Mpa. Spesimen terdampak korosi diamati menggunakan Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) perbesaran 2000x dan 5000x.
English Abstract
Painting the hull of the ship is the best choice that is proven to be able to inhibit the rate of corrosion of the hull made of ASTM A36 material. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the method of painting on the strength of the coating layer and the rate of corrosion in ASTM A36 material. Different painting works produce different coating qualities in terms of corrosion rate and adhesive strength of the paint layer. Work on spray and hand roll are chosen in 4 variations. Specimen 1 variation of spray and spray works results in corrosion rates of 0.057 mmpy and 7.35 MPa. Specimen 2 variations in spray and hand roll work results in corrosion rates of 0.034 mmpy and 5.40 MPa. Specimen 3 variations in the handling of hand roll and spray produce corrosion rates of 0.030 mmpy and 13.05 MPa. Specimen 4 variations in the handling of hand roll and hand roll produce corrosion rates of 0.028 mmpy and 11.41 MPa. Corrosion affected specimens were observed using a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) of 2000x and 5000x magnification.
