Wahyuningtyas, Dila (2020) Pertumbuhan Populasi Dan Perkembangan Corcyra cephalonica (Stainton) Pada Beras Merah. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.
Abstract
English Abstract
Red rice is one type of rice which is often consumed by Indonesian people. Nowadays, public awareness about healthy is increasing, especially in urban community that have consumed a lot of red rice. Red rice is known to have higher nutritional content than white rice and that’s better for human health. The storage process of rice is the most important in post-harvest activity. One of the abstacle in storage of rice is the attack of stored pests namely C. cephalonica (Stainton) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae). The purpose of this research is to assess the population growth and development of C. cephalonica in different proportion forms of red rice. This research was conducted at the Plant Pest Laboratory, Department of Pests and Plant Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, Brawijaya University from November 2019 until April 2020 with temperature is 27.3 oC and humidity 72.2%. This research was consisted of twelve treatments i.e 100% whole, 100% broken, 100% flour, 75% whole + 25% broken, 50% whole + 50% broken, 25% whole + 75% broken, 75% whole + 25% flour, 50% whole + 50% flour, 25% whole + 75% flour, 75% broken + 25% flour, 50% broken + 50% flour, and 25% broken + 75% flour of red rice. The research was designed using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) and it was repeated 3 times. One hundred grams of insect diet was put into a polystrene tube (t = 7 cm, d = 8 cm), and each treatment was infested with 100 eggs C. cephalonica. The observation variables of population growth included the number of larvae, pupae, and C. cephalonica adult. The observation of development is done by taken 10 eggs from paired of adult that emerged at the same day from population growth research. Then, the eggs was put in a small tube (d = 3 cm, t = 4 cm) and observed every day until hatch into larvae. Then, each larvae was transferred to a new small tube which contained 6 g of diet in treatment proportion. The observation variables of development were egg stadium, larval stadium, pupal stadium, preoviposition, oviposition, postoviposition, longevity of male and female adult, fecundity, and fertility of C. cephalonica. The results population growth of C. cephalonica showed that the different proportion forms of red rice significantly affected the number of larvae, pupae, and adults. Population growth of C. cephalonica was higher at 100% whole, 75% whole + 25% broken, and 25% whole + 75% broken compared to 100% flour and 75% broken + 25% flour. The results of development C. cephalonica showed that the different proportion forms of red rice significantly affected the larval stadium but it was not significantly affected the egg stadium, pupal stadium, preoviposition, oviposition, postoviposition, longevity of male and female adult, fecundity, and fertility of C. cephalonica. Development of C. cephalonica was faster in the treatment 75% whole + 25% broken compared to 100% red rice flour, 25% whole + 75% broken, 50% whole + 50% flour, 25% whole + 75% flour, and 50% broken + 50% flour.
