Abstract
Dalam perkembangan politik kontemporer, kajian celebrity politics (selebriti politik) dan reverse coattail effect (efek ekor jas terbalik) masih sangat terbatas. Dengan pendekatan studi kasus kualitatif tulisan ini menggambarkan secara spesifik bagaimana skema pemilu serentak menstimulasi berlangsungnya peran ganda celebrity politics (politician dan endorser). Sebagai celebrity politician, Krisdayanti mencalonkan diri untuk menjadi Anggota DPR RI, terpilih, dan berhasil memperoleh suara terbesar di Dapil Jatim V. Sementara sebagai celebrity endorser Krisdayanti turut serta dalam mengkampanyekan PDI- Perjuangan dan Pasangan Jokowi- Ma’ruf Amin. Lebih lanjut studi ini menunjukan bahwa keyakinan Payne dkk.(2002), Trino(2017), dan Ratna Solihah(2018), yang menyebutkan ‘preferensi calon presiden mempengaruhi keterpilihan anggota legislatif ‘tidak terbukti. Dalam praktiknya yang berlaku ialah endorsment Krisdayanti dijadikan konstituen sebagai pertimbangan dalam memilih Jokowi- Ma’ruf Amin (reverse coattail effect). Peran ganda Krisdayanti sebagai celebrity politician sekaligus endorser, serta praktik reverse coattail effect yang berlangsung dalam pemilu serentak 2019 merupakan temuan baru dalam kajian celebrity politics dan reverse coattail effect. Dengan demikian, studi ini memperluas teori celebrity politics dan reverse coattail effect.
English Abstract
In the development of contemporary politics, studies of celebrity politics and the reverse coattail effect are still very limited. With a qualitative case study approach this paper specifically describes how the concurrent election scheme stimulates the occurring dual role of celebrity politics (politicians and endorsers). As a celebrity politician, Krisdayanti nominated herself to be a Member of the Indonesian Parliament, was elected, and succeeded in obtaining the largest vote in the East Java V District. While as celebrity endorser Krisdayanti participated in the PDI-Perjuangan and Jokowi-Ma'ruf campaign. Furthermore, this study shows that the beliefs of Payne et al. (2002), Trino (2017), and Ratna Solihah (2018), who stated ‘presidential candidate preferences affect the electability of legislative members‘ is not proven. In practice, Krisdayanti's endorsment is used as a constituent as a consideration for vote Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin (reverse coattail effect). Krisdayanti's dual role as a celebrity politician at a time as an endorser, and the practice of the reverse coattail effect in the 2019 concurrent elections are new findings in the studys of celebrity politics and reverse coattail effects. Therefore, this study expands the theory of celebrity politics and the reverse coattail effect.
