Abstract

Logam berat merupakan unsur-unsur kimia berbahaya yang biasa dihasilkan oleh industri-industri besar maupun kecil seperti industri alat listrik dan logam, kimia, bahan bangunan serta tambang. Salah satu logam yang memiliki potensial mencemari lingkungan adalah Timbal (Pb). Fitoremediasi merupakan salah satu cara dalam mengatasi pencemaran logam dengan cara memindahkan, menyerap atau mengakumulasikan serta mengubah kontaminan atau logam yang berbahaya menjadi tidak berbahaya. Pada penelitian ini tanaman rumput gajah (Pennisetum purpureum) dipilih sebagai tanaman yang mampu meremediasi logam Pb. Tanaman rumput gajah (Pennisetum purpureum) memiliki nilai BCF lebih dari 1 (BCF >1), dimana tanaman rumput gajah masuk dalam kategori tanaman akumulator. Pertumbuhan rumput gajah terhadap perbedaan konsentrasi logam Pb memberikan pengaruh perlambatan pertumbuhan dan kondisi fisik daun dimana semakin besar konsentrasi logam Pb maka warna daun semakin menguning akibat terjadinya nekrosis dan klorosis serta kekurangan unsur hara kalium. Bagian akar, batang sekunder, dan daun menunjukkan perbedaan nyata antar perbedaan konsentrasi Pb. Total konsentrasi logam Pb terbesar yaitu pada tanaman rumput gajah dengan perlakuan 50 ppm yaitu sebesar 115,89 mg/kg dan total akumulasi sebesar 33,17 mg/tanaman

English Abstract

Heavy metals are hazardous chemical elements commonly emitted by large and small industries such as the electrical and metal tools, chemical, building materials and mining industries. One of the metals that has the potential to pollute the environment is Lead (Pb). Phytoremediation is one of many ways to resolves metal pollution by moving, absorbing or accumulating and changing harmful contaminants from hazardous to be harmless. In this study, elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum) was chosen as a plant that capable to remediate Pb metal. Elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum) have a BCF value is more than 1 (BCF> 1), which is elephant grass can be include in the category of accumulator plants. The growth of elephant grass on the different kind concentration of Pb metal have some effect on the slowing growth and the physical condition of the leaves which more high concentration of Pb metal, there are more leaves turn yellow due to the occurrence of necrosis and chlorosis and then the lack of potassium nutrients. The roots, secondary stems, and leaves showed significant differences between the differences of Pb metal concentration. The largest total Pb metal concentration is in the plants with the 50 ppm treatment is 115,89 mg / kg and a total accumulation is 33,17 mg / plant
