Abstract
Perkembangan zaman menyebabkan naiknya kebutuhan kehidupan manusia, dan juga pertumbuhan industri-industri. Salah satu industri yang mengalami perkembangan yaitu industri percetakan, meskipun tidak dalam skala industri besar, namun keberadaan industri percetakan harus diperhitungkan eksistensinya di era global saat ini. Sama halnya dengan industri yang lain, industri percetakan juga menghasilkan limbah yang harus diperhatikan. Limbah cair dari industri percetakan sendiri menghasilkan jenis-jenis limbah logam berat, yang dapat berasal dari tinta, pencucian mesin cetak, dan juga detergen serta bahan kimia lainnya yang digunakan saat proses pencetakan terjadi. Limbah cair industri banyak mengandung bahan kimia organik yang sulit didegradasi secara langsung dan juga mengandung logam berat salah satunya adalah mangan. Logam berat mangan merupakan jenis logam berat yang bersifat racun dan dapat terakumulasi secara biologis dan berbahaya bagi makhluk hidup. Oleh karena itu, perlu proses untuk mengolah limbah tersebut agar aman dan dapat diterima oleh lingkungan dan logam yang dibuang tidak melampaui ambang batas yang ditentukan. Adsorpsi merupakan salah satu proses pengolahan air yang efektif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimental. Adsorben yang digunakan pada penelitian adalah zeolite alam teraktivasi dengan kadar 0 gram, 15 gram, 30 gram, dan 45 gram, dengan waktu kontak 30 menit dan 60 menit masing-masing dilakukan 3 ulangan. Ukuran zeolite yang digunakan adalah zeolit yang lolos ayakan 40-50 mesh. Waktu kontak 30 menit mampu menurunkan kadar logam berat mangan paling besar yaitu padaix penambahan 30 gram zeolit sebesar 0,366 mg/g, dan untuk waktu kontak 60 menit menurunkan kadar logam berat mangan terbesar terjadi pada penambahan 15 gram sebesar 0,744 mg/g.
English Abstract
The era development influenced an increase the needs of human life, as well as the growth of industries. One of the industries that has developed is printing industry, despite it is not on a large scale industry, the existence of the printing industry should be considered intheis globalization era. As wiell as other industries, printing industry also produces waste that should be concerned. In printing industry, it generally produces solid and liquid waste. Liquid waste from the printing industry itself produces types of heavy metal waste, which can come from ink, washing the printing machine, and also detergents and other chemicals used when the printing process occurs. Many industrial wastewater contains organic chemicals which are difficult to degrade directly and also contain heavy metals, one of which is manganese. Heavy metal manganese is a type of heavy metal that is toxic and can accumulate biologically and is harmful to living things. That is why the process is needed to execute these wastes so that it will be safe and acceptable to environment and the discarded metal does not exceed the specified threshold. The method used is the adsorption method. Adsorption is an effective water treatment process and is often used to remove heavy metals using adsorbents. The adsorbent used in the study was natural zeolite activated with levels of 0 grams, 15 grams, 30 grams, and 45 grams,with a contact time of 30 minutes and 60 minutes each of them was done 3 replications. The size of zeolite used is zeolite which passes the 40-50 mesh sieve. The contact time of 30 minutes was able to reduce the highest levels of heavy metal manganese, which is in addition of 30 grams of zeolite by 0.366 mg / g, and for 60xi minutes of contact time to reduce the highest levels of heavy metal manganese occurred at 15 grams of 0.744 mg / g addition
