Abstract
Tanaman tembakau (Nicotiana tabacum L.) dibudidayakan untuk diambil daunnya sebagai bahan utama pembuatan rokok. Pada PT. Bentoel Internasional Investama, Tbk setiap bulan rata-rata menghasilkan limbah dust (debu tembakau) sebesar 47.080 kg. Pemanfaatan limbah dust tembakau sebagai bahan bakar guna menghasilkan energi panas sebagai sumber energi dalam proses pengeringan tembakau. Selain itu dapat memudahkan pengangkutan briket tersebut menuju sentrasentra tembakau. Metode yang akan digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dua faktorial, yaitu faktor pertama adalah variasi tekanan pengepresan dan faktor kedua adalah variasi ukuran mesh. Faktor A tiga taraf ( 30, 40 dan 50 kg/cm2), Faktor B tiga taraf ( 18, 35 dan 60 mesh). Pengujian sampel dilakukan berdasarkan parameter kerapatan massa (densitas), laju pembakaran, kadar air, kadar abu, dan nilai kalor. Data hasil pengujian didapatkan nilai densitas tertinggi yaitu 1.099 (gram/cm3), kadar air terendah yaitu 3.930%, kadar abu terendah yaitu 36.333%, laju pembakaran tercepat yaituix 0.695 (gram/menit), dan nilai kalor tertinggi yaitu 1776.9 (kalori/gram). variasi tekanan pengepresan berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap densitas, laju pembakaran, tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap kadar air, kadar abu, dan nilai kalor. English Abstract
Tobacco plants (Nicotiana tabacum L.) are cultivated to be taken leaves as the main ingredient of cigarette making. At PT. Bentoel Internasional Investama, TBK every month the average produces a waste of dust (tobacco dust) of 47,080 kg. Utilization of tobacco dust waste as a fuel to produce heat energy as a source of energy in the drying process of tobacco. In addition, it can facilitate the transportation of briquettes to tobacco centers. The method to be used in this research is the group Random design (RAK) two factorial, the first factor is the variation of pressing pressure and the second factor is the mesh size variation. Factors A of three levels (30, 40 and 50 kg/cm2), factor B three levels (18, 35 and 60 mesh). Sample testing is carried out based on a mass density (density), combustion rate, moisture content, ash rate, and Calor value parameters. Test result Data obtained the highest density value is 1,099 (gram/cm3), the lowest water content is 3,930%, the lowest ash content is 36,333%, the fastest burning rate is 0695 (gram/minute), and the highest rate of heat is 1776.9 (calorie/gram). Pressure variations of the pressing effect arexi very tangible to the density, rate of combustion, no noticeable effect on moisture content, ash content, and Calor value. The size of the mesh is very noticeable to the density, moisture content, ash content, and combustion rate, no noticeable effect on the heat value
