Abstract

Ekstrak etanol daun kemangi (Ocimum africanum) mampu memperbaiki integritas mukosa lambung tikus Rattus norvegicus strain wistar model ulkus peptikum dengan dosis optimal 600 mg/kgBB.

English Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of ethanol extract of basil leaves (Ocimum africanum) on gastric mucosa integrity score of Rattus norvegicus strain wistar stomach peptic ulcer model induced by indomethacin which observed microscopically. The 25 male wistars are divided into five groups; negative control group, positive control group, treatment group one, treatment group two, treatment group three. The positive control group and treatment groups were injected with indomethacin 30 mg / kg BW orally. 8 hours after indomethacin injection the positive control rat was dissected to evaluate the formation of ulcers in the stomach. Ethanol extract of basil leaves was given to the treatment group with three different doses every 8 hours for a day (150 mg/kgBW, 300 mg/kgBW, 600 mg/kgBW). Samples were observed to see the integrity of the gastric mucosa through microscopic observation of 400 times magnification. The results showed a decrease in the mean value in the three treatment groups, especially in the treatment group two (0.16) and three (0.12) compared to the positive control group (1.2) significantly (p = 0.008). The ethanol extract of basil leaves (Ocimum africanum) was able to improve the gastric mucosal integrity of Rattus norvegicus strain of Wistar strain peptic ulcer model with an optimal dose of 600 mg/kgBW.
