Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran academic locus of control internal terhadap self-handicapping pada mahasiswa baru. Faktor penyebab yang timbul ketika mahasiswa melakukan self-handicapping yaitu berasal dari academic locus of control internal yang dia miliki diantaranya hopelessness, distractibility, poor attitude, dan impaired planning .Hipotesis yang diajukan peneliti adalah terdapat peran academic locus of control internal terhadap self-handicapping pada mahasiswa baru. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif regresi linier sederhana dengan partisipan mahasiswa baru. Teknik sampling yang digunakan peneliti adalah non probability incidental sampling. Academic locus of control internal akan diukur menggunakan Academic Locus of Control Scale, sedangkan Self-handicapping akan diukur menggunakan Self-Handicapping Scale. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh positif antara academic locus of control internal terhadap self-handicapping pada mahasiswa baru (R = 0,356, p<0,05)

English Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of internal academic locus of control on selfhandicapping in new students. The causal factors that arise when a student selfhandicapping is come from the internal academic locus of control he has, including hopelessness, distractibility, poor attitude, and impaired planning. The proposed hypothesis by researchers is find that there is an internal academic locus of control role in self-handicapping in new students. This research is a quantitative study of simple linear regression with new student participants. The sampling technique used by researchers is non-probability incidental sampling. Internal academic locus of control will be measured using the Academic Locus of Control Scale, while Selfhandicapping will be measured using the Self-Handicapping Scale. The results showed that there was a positive influence between internal academic locus of control on self-handicapping for new students (R = 0,356, p<0,05
