Abstract
Perkembangan teknologi di masa sekarang turut membuat berbagai aspek kehidupan manusia juga harus beradaptasi dengannya, dan perkara keamanan nasional suatu negara juga tidak lepas darinya. Suatu negara kini bisa menggunakan teknologi canggih untuk menegakkan keamanan nasionalnya dari ancaman yang bersifat internal maupun eksternal. Dan dengan terjadinya perkembangan teknologi modern, luar angkasa bisa menjadi salah satu objek militerisasi oleh suatu negara yang ingin memastikan agar keamanannya tidak akan terancam oleh negara lain. Sebagai salah satu negara dengan program antariksa terkemuka, Tiongkok kini berusaha melakukan militerisasi terhadap luar angkasa untuk mengimbangi posisinya dengan militer negara-negara lawan Tiongkok. Oleh sebab itu, tulisan ini akan difokuskan pada suatu unit militer dalam Angkatan Bersenjata Tiongkok yang bernama Strategic Support Force (SSF) yang bertugas untuk keperluan space warfare dan cyber warfare Tiongkok. Untuk memahami upaya militerisasi ini, penulis menggunakan konsep astropolitik yang dicetuskan oleh Everett C. Dolman.
English Abstract
The contemporary technology developments have prompted various aspects of human life to adapt to these changes, and the national security of a nation is equally related to this matter. Now, a nation may employ advanced technologies to maintain its national security from internal and external threats. And as a result of these developments, space can be an object of a militarization attempt by a country that does not want its security to be jeopardized by other countries. As one of the countries with the most advanced space programs, China is now trying to militarize the outer space to balance its position with its adversarial opponents. Therefore, this paper will focus on a military unit within the Chinese Armed Forces called the Strategic Support Force (SSF), which is in charge of China’s needs for space warfare and cyber warfare operations. To understand this militarization effort, the author uses the concept of astropolitics that was coined by Everett C. Dolman.
