Abstract
Pertumbuhan kajian teoretik komunikasi sangat condong pada kerangka ala Barat. Semangat untuk memperluas bidang kajian komunikasi dengan perspektif non-Western sangat dibutuhkan salah satunya pada studi komunikasi instruksional. Hal itu disebabkan oleh riset-risetnya sangat minim dari perspektif non-Western dan relatif kurang berkembang dibandingkan dengan kajian komunikasi lainnya seperti media, jurnalisme, public relations, dan sebagainya. Pesantren merupakan salah satu lembaga pendidikan Islam tertua di Indonesia serta memiliki ragam keunikan menjadi kajian menarik dalam komunikasi instruksional. Penelitian ini fokus pada pendidikan pesantren sebagai bagian dari khazanah keilmuan disiplin ilmu komunikasi dengan sudut pandang Timur. Studi ini merupakan eksplorasi landasan filosofis komunikasi instruksional pada pendidikan pesantren tepatnya di Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor (PMDG) sebagai salah satu representasi dari pesantren yang merupakan lembaga pendidikan Islam khas Nusantara. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode hermeneutika filosofis Gadamer yang terus berproses sebagai usaha rasional untuk memahami ontologis dalam lingkaran historis. Metode ini dipilih agar dapat memberikan hasil yang maksimal melalui pemaknaan data berupa teks, lisan maupun tulisan. Dilakukan dengan telaah dan penggalian gabungan yakni teks maupun konsep khusus berupa ungkapan dan tulisan yang sarat akan nilai adiluhung dan bermakna filosofis, serta ritual budaya berupa kegiatan yang ajeg dilakukan dan tercermin pada fenomena komunikasi sehari-hari di PMDG. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komunikasi instruksional di pesantren khususnya Gontor mengambil bagian penting dalam kajian komunikasi dengan perspektif Non-Western. Kegiatan komunikasi dalam pendidikannya mengandung nilai filosofis yang dibarengi dengan konsistensi proses internalisasi nilai tersebut. Landasan nilai filosofis di pesantren yang diliputi konsep “barokatologi” yakni keberkahan memiliki urgensi tersendiri dalam proses komunikasi instruksional.
English Abstract
The growth of theoretical studies of communication is very general in reference to the Western-style framework. The enthusiasm to expand the field of communication studies with a non-Western perspective is needed one of them in instructional communication studies. This is due to minimal research from a non-Western perspective that less developed compared to other communication studies such as media, journalism, public relations, and so on. Pesantren is one of the oldest Islamic education institutions in Indonesia and has a variety of uniqueness into an interesting study in instructional communication. This research focuses on pesantren education as part of the treasury of communication science discipline with an Eastern perspective. This study is an exploration of the philosophical foundation derived from instructional communication in pesantren education precisely at Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor (PMDG) as one of the representations of pesantren which is Indonesian original Islamic educational institutions. This study uses Gadamer's philosophical hermeneutic method which continues to proceed as a rational attempt to understand ontologies in historical circles. The method was chosen in order to provide maximum results through the interpretation of data consisting of text in the form of oral or written. Studies and excavations conducted by the combination of text and spesific concepts in the form of expressions and writings full with noble values and meaningful philosophies of research, as well as cultural rituals in the form of a steady activity performed and reflected on the phenomenon of everyday communication in PMDG. The results showed that instructional communication in pesantren especially Gontor took an important part in communication studies with a non-Western perspective. Communication activities in education contains philosophical values along with the consistency process of internalizing these values. The foundation of philosophical values in pesantren which includes the concept of “barokatologi” or blessing has a special urgency in the instructional communication process.
