Abstract
Penelitian ini menjelaskan praktik sosial yang terjadi pada tradisi nyadran di Desa Balongdowo, Kecamatan Candi, Sidoarjo. Latar belakang penelitian ini dilakukan yaitu berdasarkan pada adanya sebuah modifikasi yang dilakukan oleh para pemuda desa dengan menambahkan atraksi adu sound system dalam tradisi nyadran. Modifikasi ini mendapat larangan dari pemerintah desa dan aparat kepolisian, namun masih bisa bertahan sampai saat ini. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Lokasi penelitian ini berada di Desa Balongdowo, Kecamatan Candi, Sidoarjo. Teknik penentuan informan menggunakan purposive select. Teknik analisa yang digunakan adalah model Miles dan Haberman. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori strukturasi dari Anthony Giddens untuk memahami praktik sosial yang terjadi dalam tradisi nyadran hasil modifikasi, yaitu kegiatan atraksi adu sound system. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa praktik sosial yang terjadi dibangun melalui proses agensi yang dilakukan expert agent dan lay agent yang dapat dilihat pada relasi signifikasi, dominasi, dan legitimasi. Proses agensi yang dilakukan oleh agen-agen terkait mampu membentuk kesadaran diskursif dan terjadilah saling-kehadiran para pemuda untuk melaksanakan atraksi adu sound system pada tradisi nyadran setiap tahunnya. Terdapat beberapa konsekuensi tindakan yang salah satunya berdampak pada perubahan legitimasi, namun perubahan tersebut tidak mempengaruhi praktik tradisi nyadran melalui atraksi adu sound system justru semakin memperkuat hingga dapat bertahan sampai saat ini.
English Abstract
This study explains the social practices that occur in the tradition of Nyadran in the Balongdowo Village, Candi District, Sidoarjo. The background of this research is based on the existence of a modification made by the village youths by adding attractions to the sound system in the Nyadran tradition. This modification was banned by the village government and the police, but it still survives until now. The research method used in this study is a type of qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The location of this research is in the Balongdowo Village, Candi Subdistrict, Sidoarjo. The technique of determining informants using purposive select. The analysis technique used is with the model of Miles and Haberman. This research uses the theory of structuration from Anthony Giddens to understand the social practices that occur in the modified Nyadran tradition, which is the attraction of sound system activities. The results showed that the social practices that occurred were built through the agency process carried out by expert agents and lay agents which can be seen in the relations of significance, dominance, and legitimacy. The agency process carried out by the relevant agencies is able to shape the discursive awareness of young people and there was co-presence to carry out the attraction of fighting sound systems in the Nyadran tradition every year. There are several consequences of action, one of which has an impact on the change in legitimacy, but the change does not affect the practice of the Nyadran tradition through the attraction of the sound system, but it actually strengthens to the point ofsurvival.
