Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran dukungan sosial terhadap penyesuaian diri mahasiswa baru di perguruan tinggi. Metode dalam penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif korelasional. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan accidental sampling dengan total sampel sebanyak 733 mahasiswa. Responden penelitian yang digunakan adalah mahasiswa baru yang memiliki status aktif di perkuliahan. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan berupa skala Dukungan Sosial yang telah dimodifikasi dan penyesuaian mahasiswa menggunakan skala Inventory of New College Student Adjustment (INCA) yang ditransadaptasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan regresi linear sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dukungan sosial berperan terhadap penyesuaian mahasiswa baru. Koefisien F sebesar 181,902 dengan signifikansi sebesar 0,0001 (p<0,05) dan besar peranan yaitu 19,9%. Hasil tersebut menunjukan semakin tinggi dukungan sosial maka semakin tinggi juga penyesuaian diri pada mahasiswa baru di perguruan tinggi.

English Abstract

This research is aimed to know the role of social supports towards the adjustment of freshmen students in the university. The method used in this research is the quantitative correlational approach. Sample picking technique is using accidental sampling with the total samples up to 733 of college student. The chosen research subjects were the freshmen students currently having active status in the university. The research instruments which will be the theory of social support which are in modified version. Moreover, the instrument for students’ adjustment uses Inventory of New College Student Adjustment (INCA) scale that has been transposed. The data analysis technique uses simple linear regression. The results of research showed that social supports plays role towards the freshmen students’ adjustment. The coefficient F is 181,902 with a significance value 0,0001 (p<0,05) and the value of the role is 19.9%. Those results showed that the higher social supports they get the higher her freshmen students’ adjustment in the university will be.
