Abstract

Era Globalisasi pada saat ini telah terjadi perkembangan yang sangat pesat diberbagai bidang kehidupan, seperti dibidang teknologi.Salah satu media teknologi yang telah digunakan oleh masyarakat luas, yaitu internet. Dengan jumlah penggunaan teknologi internet yang semakin berkembang pesat. Sekarang sedang marak-maraknya game online di dunia, maka trdapat juga berbagai dampak negative. Mahasiswa kedokteran adalah individu yang menjalani masa kuliah pre-klinik selama 3,5 tahun dan klinik (Co-ass) selama 20 bulan dalam mencapai gelar dokter. Jenis penilitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif artinya data diperoleh dengan menyebarkan kuisioner kepada Mahasiswa Kedokteran Umum tahun pertama Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Brawijaya Malang dengan tujuan yaitu mengetahui apakah terdapat hubungan antara durasi bermain Internet Gaming dengan prestasi akademik mahasiswa melalui Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif (IPK). Pada penelitian ini, didapatkan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan antara durasi bermain Internet Gaming dengan Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif (IPK) mahasiswa. Responden pada penelitian ini sebanyak 103 responden dari total 197 mahasiswa yang tengah menjalani tahun pertama Program Studi Kedokteran Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Brawijaya, dari 103 responden tersebut didapatkan data bahwa seluruhnya pernah bermain Internet Gaming dengan durasi yang bervariasi, didominasi dengan mahasiswa yang bermain dengan durasi cukup rendah yaitu diantara 1-2 jam sebanyak 36,6% dan data dari variabel Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif mahasiswa didominasi kategori baik pada angka 2,76 – 3,00 sebesar 39,4%. Dengan hasil tersebut disimpulkan tidak terdapat hubungan antara durasi bermain Internet Gaming dengan IPK mahasiswa Jurusan Kedokteran Universitas Brawijaya dan durasi Internet Gaming bukan sebagai faktor resiko penurunan IPK.

English Abstract

The era of globalization at this time has occurred very rapidly in various fields of life, such as in the field of technology. One of the media technologies that have been used by the wider community, namely the internet. With the increasing number of uses of internet technology. Now that there are widespread online games in the world, there are also various negative impacts. Medical students are individuals who undergo a pre-clinical college for 3.5 years and a clinic (Co-ass) for 20 months in achieving a doctor's degree. This type of research is quantitative research where data is obtained by distributing questionnaires to the first year General Medical Students of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malang Malang, which has the aim of knowing the relationship between the duration of playing Internet Gaming with student academic achievement through the GPA with the entire population active students are enrolled in the Medical Study Program of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malang, especially for first year students. In this study, it was found that there was no significant relationship between the duration of playing Internet Gaming with the student Grade Point Average (GPA). Respondents in this study were 103 respondents out of a total of 197 students who were undergoing the first year of the Medical Study Program of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Brawijaya, from 103 respondents obtained data that all had played Internet Gaming with varying durations, dominated by students who played with a relatively low duration that is, between 1-2 hours, 36.6% and the data from the student GPA variables were dominated in the range that were still categorized as good in the range with a GPA of 2.76 - 3.00 at 39.4%. In conclusion there are no relation between the duration of Internet Gaming and the Grade Point Average of Medical student of Brawijaya University and the duration of Internet gaming is not the factor that influenced the lowering of student’s GPA.
