English Abstract

The complaints of shortness of breath and odema have been felt by patients with chronic renal failure in 2018 in the IGD with an average of 98.9 / month. Researchers have surveyed from 10 patients in the emergency room that they already feel tired and disobedient in controlling their intake of drinking and eating, especially thirst so that the desire to drink a lot is very high. Family support is support that increases patient compliance and recurrence of shortness of breath can be suppressed. This phenomenon underlies research to see whether there is a relationship between family support and compliance with the intake and frequency of severe shortness of breath in chronic renal failure patients. The study design uses cross-sectional. Samples were selected by a quota sampling technique for 81 patients and families. The results of the analysis of some patients with CRF have a good family support of 78 (96.3%), compliance with the CRF intake was mostly less 70 (86.4%) and at the frequency of severe shortness of breath CKD patients averaged 1 to 2 experienced shortness of breath with good family support 34 (41.9%). Spearman Rank Test is obtained p value = 0.004 (<0.05) and value = 0.000 (<0.05). The conclusion is that there is a relationship between family support with adherence to food intake and frequency of severe shortness of breath in CRF patients. The suggestion is the hospital can improve the quality of service by providing the education to caregivers or families about the intake of drinking and eating patients with chronic renal failure.
