Pengaruh Dioctyl Phthalate (DOP) dan 1-Dekanol sebagai Pemlastis pada PIM-TOMAC Terhadap Transpor Cr(VI)

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mempelajari pengaruh jenis dan konsentrasi pemlastis dalam Polymer Inclusion Membrane (PIM) terhadap transpor Cr(VI). Pemlastis yang dipelajari yaitu dioctyl phthalate (DOP) dan 1-Dekanol. Pembuatan PIM dilakukan dengan melarutkan polyvinyl chloride (PVC), 20% (w/w) trioctylmethyl-ammonium chloride (TOMAC), dan pemlastis DOP atau 1-Dekanol dalam pelarut tetrahydrofuran (THF). Konsentrasi pemlastis DOP dan 1-Dekanol divariasi pada 20%, 30%, dan 40% w/w. Transpor Cr(VI) dilakukan menggunakan sel difusi. Fasa umpan sel difusi diisi 100 mL K2CrO4 50 mg/L pada pH 4 dan fasa penerima sel difusi berisi 100 mL NaOH 0,05 M. Membran PIM diletakkan diantara fasa umpan dan fasa penerima. Kedua fasa diaduk selama 180 menit dengan kecepatan 150 rpm. Larutan pada masing-masing fasa diambil 1 mL setiap 30 menit. Konsentrasi Cr(VI) dalam cuplikan dianalisis secara spektrofotometri sinar tampak dengan pereaksi difenilkarbazida pada panjang gelombang 541 nm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa transpor Cr(VI) melalui PIM konsentrasi DOP 20% (w/w) memperoleh hasil optimum dengan permeabilitas membran sebesar 2,76×10-4 mL/min.cm2, fluks awal 1,38×10-2 mg/min.cm2, dan removal Cr(VI) sebesar 16,79%. Pada PIM konsentrasi 1-Dekanol 40% (w/w) memperoleh hasil optimum dengan permeabilitas membran sebesar 8,96×10-4 mL/min.cm2, fluks awal 4,48×10-2 mg/min.cm2, dan removal Cr(VI) sebesar 46,60%. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa PIM dengan carrier TOMAC (PIM-TOMAC) dengan pemlastis 1-Dekanol lebih efektif untuk transpor Cr(VI) daripada PIM-TOMAC dengan pemlastis DOP.

English Abstract

The purpose of this research was to study the effect of plasticizer and its concentration in Polymer Inclusion Membrane (PIM) on the transport of Cr(VI). The studied plasticizers were dioctyl phthalate (DOP) and 1-Decanol. PIMs were prepared by diluting polyvinyl chloride (PVC), 20% (w/w) trioctylmethylammonium chloride (TOMAC) and plasticizer DOP or 1-Decanol in tetrahydrofuran (THF) solvent. The concentrations of plasticizer DOP and 1-Decanol were varied at 20%, 30%, dan 40% w/w. Transport of Cr(VI) was conducted by using a diffusion cell, the feed phase was filled with 100 mL of K2CrO4 50 mg/L at pH 4 and the stripping phase was filled with 100 mL of NaOH 0.05 M. PIM was placed between the feed phase and stripping phase. Both phases were stirred for 180 minutes at 150 rpm. The solution in each phase was taken up every 30 minutes about 1 mL. The concentration of Cr(VI) in the samples was analyzed by visible spectrophotometric using diphenylcarbazide as reactant at wavelength of 541 nm. The result showed that transport of Cr(VI) through PIM with DOP 20% (w/w) reached the optimum result with membrane permeability of 2.76×10-4 mL/min.cm2, initial flux of 1.38×10-2 mg/min.cm2, and removal of Cr(VI) of 16.79%. PIM with 1-Dekanol 40% (w/w) reached the optimum result where membrane permeability of 8.96×10-4 mL/min.cm2, initial flux of 4.48×10-2 mg/min.cm2, and removal of Cr(VI) of 46.60%. In conclusion, PIM-TOMAC with plasticizer 1-Dekanol is more effective for transport of Cr(VI) than the PIM consisted of DOP as plasticizer
