Abstract
Roommate relationship merupakan sebuah hubungan yang terbentuk antara para siswa di dalam sebuah ruangan yang ditempati bersama dalam sebuah institusi pembelajaran. Roommate relationship dapat menjadi kompleks dikarenakan roommate yang didapatkan berupa dalam bentuk teman, teman sekelas, maupun orang yang tidak dikenal sekalipun. Roommate relationship dalam kehidupan asrama siswa SMA juga mengalami hal yang serupa, yaitu karena mereka juga tinggal bersama dengan roommate dalam asrama yang penentuannya tidak dapat di predksi oleh siswa. Siswa yang memiliki hubungan interpersonal yang baik dengan teman-temannya juga akan lebih dapat menyesuaikan diri dalam lingkungan asrama. Salah satu kualitas hidup individu yang banyak menentukan keberhasilan menjalin hubungan dengan orang lain adalah kompetensi interpersonal, di mana individu melakukan interaksi sosial agar terjalin interaksi yang baik dan lebih efektif. Kedekatan interpersonal sendiri terjadi secara bertahap dan teratur dari yang tidak intim menjadi intim. Pada penelitian ini peneliti ingin melihat bagaimana proses relationship development yang terjadi di dalam roommate relationship siswa di boarding school. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan paradigma interpretif. Terdapat 4 informan dalam penelitian ini. Peneliti menggunakan teknik analisis data milik Miles, Huberman & Saldaña. Temuan yang peneliti dapatkan, ialah bahwa proses relationship development dalam roommate relationship siswa SMA Dwiwarna melalui tahapan contact, involvement, intimacy dan deterioriation yang didalamya terdapat tahapan repair dan dissolution. Terdapat pula siswa yang tidak melalui keseluruhan tahapan. Hal ini disebabkan oleh latar belakang kepribadian yang berbeda-beda, serta durasi tinggal di asrama yang berbeda.
English Abstract
Roommate relationship is a relationship that is formed between students in a room that is shared in a learning institution. Roommate relationships can be complex because roommates come in the form of friends, classmates, or even strangers. The roommate relationships in senior high boarding school experienced the same thing. They live with roommates in a dorm and they can’t choose their own roommates. Students who have good interpersonal relationships with their friends is easier to adjust to the dormitory environment. One of the individual's life’s qualities is those who are more determines to established relationships with others as interpersonal competence, whereas individuals conduct social interactions in order to establish good and more effective interactions. Interpersonal closeness itself occurs gradually and regularly from non-intimate to intimate relationships. In this study, researchers wanted to see how the process of relationship development that occurs in student roommate relationships at boarding schools. This research uses descriptive qualitative method with an interpretive paradigm. In this study, the researcher is using 4 informants. Using Miles, Huberman & Saldaña data analysis techniques. The findings obtained from the results, the relationship development between roommate relationships in Dwiwarna high school students, through the stages of contact, involvement, intimacy, and deterioration which includes repair and dissolution. All informants didn't go through all of the relationship development stages. Also, this is caused by different backgrounds and different lengths of stay in the boarding school.
