Abstract
Limbah minyak pala memiliki kandungan asam miristat yang tinggi yang dapat dimanfaatkan untuk sintesis lakton. Dalam penelitian ini sintesis lakton dilakukan menggunakan metode refluks, dengan penambahan reagen asam perklorat dalam penangas pasir pada suhu tinggi. Sintesis lakton dilakukan waktu reaksi selama 3, 5, dan 7 jam. Perbandingan variasi mol antara asam miristat dan asam perklorat dilakukan pada (0,05 : 0,05) ; (0,05 : 0,75) ; (0,05 : 0,1 ) mol. Senyawa lakton dari asam miristat hasil hidrolisis trimiristin dapat disintesis. Karakterisasi sintesis lakton dilakukan dengan spektrofotometer FTIR. Hasil spektrum FTIR ditunjukan dengan adanya pita serapan pada daerah 1737,74 cm-1 yang diidentifikasi merupakan gugus fungsi karbonil C=O (ester δ-lakton). English Abstract
Nutmeg oil contains high myristic acid which can be used for lactone synthesis. In this study lactone synthesis was carried out using the reflux method, with the addition of perchloric acid reagents in sand baths at high temperatures. Lactone synthesis was carried out for 3, 5 and 7 hours reaction time. Comparison of mole variations between myristic acid and perchloric acid was carried out at (0.05: 0.05); (0.05: 0.75); (0.05: 0.1) moles. The lactone compound from myristic acid from the hydrolysis of trimiristine can be synthesized. Characterization of lactone synthesis was carried out by FTIR spectrophotometer. The results of the FTIR spectrum are indicated by the presence of absorption bands in the area of 1737.74 cm-1 which are identified as functional groups of carbonyl C = O (δ-lactone esters). The optimal reaction time for synthesis of lactone from myristic acid is 7 hours and the optimal mole ratio of lactone is 1: 1.
