Abstract
Kesehatan gigi dan mulut masyarakat Indonesia khususnya anak berkebutuhan khusus masih merupakan hal yang perlu mendapat perhatian serius. Penyandang kebutuhan khusus dapat juga mengalami masalah kesehatan gigi dan mulut. Pada anak tunadaksa memiliki ketidakmampuan dalam menggerakkan anggota tubuh sesuai dengan fungsinya, sehingga efektifitas dalam hal menyikat gigi kurang maksimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui perbedaan efektifitas metode penyikatan gigi horizontal dan roll terhadap akumulasi plak pada anak Tunadaksa di Yayasan Pembinaan Anak Cacat (YPAC) Malang. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan penelitian pre-eksperimetal, dengan pendekatan one group pretest-posttest. Sampel pada penelitian ini sebanyak 30 anak tunadaksa dibagi menjadi dua kelompok, dimana kelompok I penyikatan gigi metode horizontal dan kelompok II penyikatan gigi metode roll. Dilakukan pemeriksaan plak pada sampel saat hari pertama, dilanjutkan dengan penyuluhan materi tentang menyikat gigi, dan pemeriksaan plak kembali setelah dua minggu. Analisis data menggunakan Uji Fisher Test menunjukkan hasil pada metode horizontal P=0,089 dan nilai pada metode roll P=0,221. Dari hasil yang didapatkan bahwa kedua hasil yang didapatkan P> α. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah terdapat perbedaan efektifitas metode penyikatan gigi horizontal dan roll terhadap akumulasi plak pada anak tunadaksa di Yayasan Pembinaan Anak Cacat (YPAC) Malang.
English Abstract
The dental and oral health of the Indonesian people, especially children with special needs is still a matter that needs serious attention. Persons with special needs can also experience dental and oral health problems. In tunadaksa children have the inability to move the limbs according to their function, so the effectiveness in terms of brushing teeth is not optimal. This study aims to determine the differences in the method effectiveness of horizontal and roll tooth brushing on plaque accumulation in Tunadaksa children at the Yayasan Pembinaan Anak Cacat (YPAC) Malang. This study used a pre-experimental research design, with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. Samples in this study were 30 tunadaksa children were divided into two groups, where group I horizontal brushing method and group II brushing method. Plaque was examined on the sample on the first day, followed by counseling material about brushing teeth, and plaque examination returned after two weeks. Data analysis using the Fisher test showed the result in the horizontal method P=0,089 and the value in the roll method P=0,221. From the results obtained that the two results obstained P>α. The conclusion of this study is that there is no difference in the effectiveness of the horizontal and roll teeth brushing method on the accumulation of plaque in tunadaksa children at the Yayasan Pembinaan Anak Cacat (YPAC) Malang.
