Abstract

Preparasi gigi dalam kegiatan skill’s lab menggunakan model gigi buatan pabrik sebagai media pembelajaran diketahui belum sepenuhnya dapat menggambarkan keadaan gigi asli manusia dan harga yang relatif mahal. Salah satu evaluasinya adalah sifat mekanik seperti modulus elastisitas sebagai tolak ukur deformasi, retak atau patah ketika suatu bahan di bawah kekuatan atau tekanan yang diterapkan. Self-cured acrylic memenuhi syarat secara mekanis dan harganya terjangkau. Tujuan penelitian ini mengetahui besar nilai dan perbedaan modulus elastisitas model gigi berbahan dasar self-cured acrylic, model gigi buatan pabrik dan enamel gigi sebagai dasar dalam pembuatan media baru pembelajaran keterampilan klinis prostodonsia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Observational Analytic dengan rancangan penelitian Comparative Study Design melibatkan tiga kelompok sampel yaitu 10 model gigi berbahan self-cured acrylic, 10 buatan pabrik, dan 10 enamel gigi premolar pertama rahang bawah. Seluruh sampel dipreprasi ke dalam bentuk balok berdimensi 5 x 3 x 2 mm dan direndam dalam saliva buatan dengan suhu 37°C selama 24 jam sebelum sampel diuji dengan metode tekan menggunakan mesin micro-load system universal testing machine. Uji Oneway Anova menunjukkan signifikan p>0.05 yang artinya tidak terdapat perbedaan signifikan nilai modulus elastisitas antara model gigi berbahan self-cured acrylic, model gigi buatan pabrik dan enamel gigi. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah model gigi berbahan dasar self-cured acrylic dapat disarankan sebagai alternatif media pembelajaran keterampilan klinis prosthodonsia dengan syarat perlu dilakukan pengembangan yang lebih lanjut hingga mendapatkan hasil yang maksimal.

English Abstract

Tooth preparation in skill's lab activities using factory-made dental models as learning medias which are known incompetent to entirely describe the state of natural human teeth and relatively expensive. One of the evaluations is mechanical properties such as modulus of elasticity as a measure of deformation, cracking or breaking when a material is under force or pressure applied. Self-cured acrylic meets the requirements mechanically and at an affordable price. The aim of this study is to determine the magnitude and differences in the modulus of elasticity of self-cured acrylic based dental models, factory-made dental models, and tooth enamel as a basis to form a new learning media for clinical skills of prosthodontics. This study uses an Observational Analytic approach with Comparative Study Design involving three sample groups consist of 10 self-cured acrylic based dental models, 10 factory-made dental models, and 10 right mandibular first premolar enamel. All samples were formed into blocks in dimensions of 5 x 3 x 2 mm and immersed in artificial saliva at a temperature of 37°C for 24 hours before the samples were tested by compression method using a micro-load system universal testing machine. Oneway Anova test showed a significant p> 0.05 which means there was no significant difference in the value of the modulus of elasticity between the self-cured acrylic based dental models, factory-made dental models, and tooth enamel. The conclusion of this study is that self-cured acrylic based dental models can be suggested as an alternative learning media for new prosthodontic clinical skills on condition that further development is needed to obtain maximum results.
