Abstract
Kampoeng Batik Jetis merupakan satu-satunya tempat penghasil batik khas Sidoarjo yang merupakan salah satu budaya lokal yang dimiliki oleh Sidoarjo dan yang sampai saat ini masih berdiri dan memiliki generasi penerus. Namun ditengah profesinya sebagai pembatik ternyata pendapatan yang diperoleh pembatik tidak mencukupi untuk memenuhi kebutuhan seluruh anggota keluarga pembatik. Oleh karenanya, penelitian bertujuan untuk melihat alasan dari pembatik tetap mau melanjutkan profesi sebagai pembatik dan apa saja upaya yang dilakukan pembatik untuk membantu menopang kehidupan ekonomi pembatik. Fenomena tersebut dianalisis menggunakan Teori tindakan sosial Max Weber. Selain itu, juga dilakukan dengan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dan data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumen. Penentuan informan menggunakan snowball. Akhirnya diperoleh satu informan kunci dan enam informan utama dalam penelitian ini yaitu, satu ketua Paguyuban Batik Sidoarjo, dan enam pembatik dari setap generasi. Hasilnya, terdapat tiga alasan mengapa tetap mempertahankan profesinya yaitu karena hanya memiliki skill membatik yang disebut sebagai tindakan tradisional, karena telah memiliki sarana dan prasarana untuk membatik yang disebut sebagai tindakan afektif, dan arena membatik merupakan usaha warisan keluarga yang harus dilestarikan yang disebut sebagai tindakan afekif. Selain itu juga pembatik melakukan beberapa upaya untuk membatu menopang ekonomi dari pembatik tanpa meninggalkan profesinya sebagai pembatik yakni dengan melakukan beberapa inovasi pada hasil batik mereka agar menarik minat pembeli yang disebut sebagai tindakan berorientasi tujuan.
English Abstract
Kampoeng Batik Jetis is the only place that produces of Batik in Sidoarjo which is the only local culture owned by Sidoarjo and until now still standing and have the next generation. But in the middle of their profession as a batik it turns out the income earned by Batik is not sufficient needs for all their family member. Therefore, the researchers have an idea for looking the reason of Batik’s maker in Kampoeng Jetis still want continue their profession as a Batik’s maker and to see how their strategic to survive and effort made by Batik to sustain the economic life as a Batik’s maker. The phenomenon was analyzed by using Max Webber’s theory. In addition, the researchers will do with descriptive qualitative and to get the data will obtained by observation, interview, and documentation. Determination informant will be used snowball. Lastly, one key informant and six main informant in this research is one of the chairman of Batik Sidoarjo Association and six Batik’s maker from each generation. The result is, theres a three reason why they still maintain their profession because they just have a skill of create a Batik which called by traditional behavior, because they have a facilities and infrastructure to create a Batik which called by affective behavior, and the field of create a Batik is a family inheritance that must be preserved which called affective behavior. Other than that, the Batik’s maker do some effort to help survive their economic from Batik without leaving their profession as a Batik’s maker. The strategy is have some innovation so the result of their Batik’s can interested the buyer which called by purpose orientation behavior.
