Abstract
Jurusan Teknik Industri Universitas Brawijaya (JTI UB), sebagai penyelenggara pendidikan tinggi, bertanggung jawab dalam manajemen administrasi skripsi mahasiswa. Informasi pembimbingan skripsi dan progress mahasiswa yang sedang memprogramkan skripsi merupakan informasi yang perlu dimonitor berkelanjutan. Ketiadaan integrasi data skripsi menyebabkan tidak adanya updating pembimbingan skripsi secara otomatis. Hal ini mengakibatkan mahasiswa, dosen, dan sekretaris jurusan tidak tahu jumlah beban mahasiswa bimbingan dari setiap dosen secara pasti. Ketiadaan integrasi ini juga berakibat pada pencarian progress, apakah mahasiswa sudah melakukan pengajuan topik, seminar proposal, seminar hasil, ujian sarjana, ataupun yudisium. Pengelolaan administrasi skripsi yang lebih baik dapat dilakukan dengan membangun Sistem Informasi Manajemen (SIM) yang membantu integrasi data-data skripsi untuk memberikan informasi beban dosen dan progress skripsi mahasiswa. Perancangan sistem informasi ini menggunakan metode prototyping dengan tahap penetapan tujuan, pendefinisian fungsi, pengembangan, dan evaluasi. Penetapan tujuan dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi masalah dan tujuan dari perancangan prototype. Masalah diidentifikasi melalui analisis PIECES. Pendefinisian fungsi dilakukan dengan mengidentifikasi daftar kebutuhan menggunakan System Requirement Checklist (SRC), membuat model data menggunakan Data Flow Diagram (DFD), membuat model proses sistem, dan merancang pengembangan strategi berdasarkan sumber daya pada JTI UB. Pengembangan dilakukan menggunakan Microsoft Access sebagai aplikasi perancangan database yang sesuai dengan tujuan pencarian, penyimpanan, dan pembuatan struktur data untuk menghasilkan laporan. Evaluasi merupakan tahap terakhir untuk menguji kelayakan prototype yang terdiri dari verifikasi, validasi, dan uji prototype. Penelitian ini menghasilkan satu sistem informasi manajemen skripsi yang memiliki 21 tabel data yang mengakomodasi 6 proses utama, yaitu pengelolaan data usulan topik dan dosen pembimbing skripsi, pengelolaan data seminar proposal, pengelolaan data seminar hasil, pengelolaan data ujian sarjana, pengelolaan data yudisium, dan pengelolaan data master. Sistem informasi ini menghasilkan dua laporan, yaitu laporan beban dosen dan laporan progress skripsi mahasiswa. Uji prototype dilakukan dengan membandingkan PIECES sistem lama dengan sistem baru, dimana hasil uji menunjukkan bahwa sistem informasi manajemen skripsi telah menjawab semua masalah pada sistem lama.
English Abstract
Departement of Industrial Engineering of Universitas Brawijaya, as the higher education institution, has responsibility to manage student’s thesis administration. The informations, thesis supervisor’s loads and student’s thesis progress, have to be monitored continously. The absence of data integration causes the delay in updating of supervisor load’s information automatically. This affects students, lecturers, and department secretary do not know the number of students being supervised by each lecturer exactly on real-time. It also affects the dificulty to trace, whether the students have conducted topic submission, proposal seminar, result seminar, undergratuate thesis examination, or judicium. Better management of thesis administration can be built by designing a Management Information System (MIS) that helps to integrate the thesis files to provide the thesis supervisor’s loads and student’s thesis progress. This information system design uses prototyping as method with stages of setting objectives, defining functions, developing, and evaluating. Setting objectives are done to identify the problems and objectives of this prototype design. The problems are identified with PIECES analysis. Defining functions are done by identifying the requirement modelling using System Requirement Checklist (SRC), making the data modelling using Data Flow Diagram (DFD), making the system process modelling, and designing the strategy development based on resources at the department. Developing is done using Microsoft Access as database design application that is suitable for the purpose of searching, storing, and making data structures to give reports. Evaluating is the last stage of the method to test the feasibility of the finished-prototype-design that consists of verification, validation, and testing. This research generated a thesis manajement sistem information that has 21 data records and 6 main processes, that are topic and thesis advisor proposal data management, proposal seminar data management, result seminar data management, undergraduate thesis examination data management, judicium data management, and master data management. This information system produces two reports, that are the thesis supervisor’s loads and student’s thesis progress. The prototype test is done by comparing the old and new system PIECES, which results that the thesis management information system has answered all problems from the old system
