Abstract
Pemindahan ibukota Indonesia banyak diperbincangkan masyarakat. Aksi ini masih belum terlaksanakan karena kurangnya alasan kuat untuk meyakinkan rakyat. Namun, rencana pemindahan ibukota ke tampat baru semakin menguat setelah Presiden Jokowi menyinggungnya dalam pidato kenegaraan. Untuk itu, penelitian ini dibuat untuk menguak berbagai masalah, yakni: (1) menguak tipetipe discourse markers yang terkandung dalam pidato Jokowi tentang pemindahan ibukota dan (2) menguak fungsi dalam penggunaan discourse markers di pidato tersebut. Permasalahan tersebut akan dijawab dengan mengaplikasikan teori dari Fraser (1999). Penelitian ini membuktikkan bahwa tidak semua tipe-tipe discourse markers ditemukan di pidato Jokowi. Menurut hasil, Jokowi menggunakan tiga tipe discourse markers: contrastive yang dinyatakan terbanyak ditemukan (47%), elaborative yang dinyatakan paling sedikit ditemukan (25%), dan inferential markers (28%). Namun, penelitian ini tidak menemukan adanya salah satu tipe discourse markers, yaitu topic change markers yang berada di dalam pidato Jokowi mengenai pemindahan ibukota. Menurut penelitian yang menjawab makna yang dimaksud dari discourse markers, penggunakan discourse markers dalam teks pidato tergantung pada target pembicara untuk menyampaikan pesannya. Dalam peneltian ini, discourse markers yang sering digunakan Presiden Jokowi adalah contrastive markers. Namun, semua discourse markers yang ditemukan mempunyai kaitan yang erat dengan mengevaluasi apa yang telah terjadi di Indonesia. Sedangkan untuk peneliti yang akan membahas dengan topik yang sama, penulis menyarankan agar menggunakan objek yang menarik dan unik lainnya, seperti discourse markers dalam pidato mengenai wacana lingkungan atau bisa pula wacana religi. Selain itu, peneliti juga menyarankan bahwa peneliti selanjutnya membahas discourse markers dengan teori yang berbeda selain dari Fraser (1999)
English Abstract
Indonesia’s capital removal has received people attention and raised a controversy. In response to the issue, the plan to move the capital to a new place is getting certain after President Joko Widodo delivered a speech about capital removal during state speech. This study attempts to reach two objectives: (1) to find out the types of discourse markers in Jokowi’s speech about capital removal and (2) to find out the function of the discourse markers in the speech. This study employed descriptive qualitative design in nature. The types of discourse markers and their functions were qualitatively described based on Fraser’s (1999) theory. This research used qualitative research method since it is suitable because the object deals with transcription of a speech. In addition, the quantitative method was used to deal with measurement and numeral procedures, particularly assessing percentage of types of discourse markers. This study revealed that Jokowi used three types of discourse markers: contrastive marker which is the most dominant marker being used (47%), inferential markers (28%), and elaborative marker which is the lowest discourse markers found in the speech (25%). However, the result did not reveal topic change marker found in Jokowi’s speech about capital removal. Regarding the analysis of the function of the discourse markers, the results showed that the uses of discourse markers in the speech were most likely dependent upon the speaker’s aims to deliver the message. In this research, Jokowi used contrastive marker as the most dominant discourse markers. As for the next researchers who are willing to use this topic, the current researcher suggests to use another interesting and unique objects, such as discourse markers found in a speech about ecological discourses or religion discourses. Moreover, the current researcher also suggests that the next researchers may use a different theory rather than using the same discourse markers’ theory from Fraser (1999)
