Abstract
Film adalah salah satu sastra modern. Film dapat membuat orang tertawa, marah, menangis, atau ketakutan. Contoh dari film adalah John Wick yang disutradarai oleh Chad Stahelski. Film John Wick memiliki banyak aspek psikologis seperti pertahanan diri. Mekanisme pertahanan diri adalah strategi psikologis yang dialami orang secara tidak sadar, itu tergantung pada bagaimana orang menghadapi masalah tertentu. Dalam John Wick kita dapat melihat bagaimana John Wick, tokoh utama mencoba untuk mencegah kegelisahannya dengan mekanisme pertahanan diri dalam situasi tertentu. Fokus utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengalaman pertahanan diri John Wick dalam film John Wick. Data diambil dari adeganadegan tertentu dan dialog-dialog dari film yang menunjukkan pembelaan diri John Wick. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bagaimana John Wick mengalami represi, ketika John Wick gagal menekan emosinya sebagai akibat dari kesedihan atas kematian istrinya; penolakan, ketika John Wick tidak mengatakan apa-apa, dan langsung menutup telepon tanpa mengatakan apa-apa, dan; regresi, ketika John Wick bertindak seperti anak kecil, ia mulai menangis setiap kali ia mengingat istrinya.
English Abstract
Film is a kind of modern literature. Film somehow can make people laugh, angry, cry, or be scared. The example of the film is John Wick by Chad Stahelski. John Wick film has many psychological aspects such as self-defense mechanism. Self-defense mechanism is a psychological strategy that people experiences unconsciously. It depends on how people face a certain problem. In John Wick we can see how John Wick, the main character, copes with his anxiety through self-defense mechanism in some situations. The main focus of this research is to analyze John Wick’s self-defense mechanism in John Wick film. The data were taken from certain scenes and dialogues from film showing John Wick's self-defense mechanism. The result of this research shows how John Wick experiences repression, it’s when John Wick failed to repress his emotion as a result to sadness of his wife’s death; denial, it’s when John Wick did not say anything, and directly disconnect the phone without saying anything, and; regression, it’s when John Wick acts like a child, he started to cry everytime he remembers his wife.
