Putra, Julian Aji Dwima (2019) Feasibility Study of Smallholder Dairy Farming at Tutur Subdistrict of Pasuruan Regency. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

Stratum I (1-3.92 ST), stratum II (>3.92-6.84 ST), dan stratum III (>6.84 ST).

English Abstract

Research was conducted in Tutur Subdistrict, Pasuruan Regency for one month. The purposes of this research were to describe dairy farmer profiles, investigate revenue and production cost, and examine the feasibility of dairy farm business based on break even point (BEP), revenue cost ratio (R/C ratio) and rentability that consisted of return on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE). 30 respondents were obtained by purposive sampling. Respondents were divided into three scales based on dairy cattle owning in animal unit (AU). Stratum I (owning 1-3.92 AU), stratum II (owning > 3.92-6.84 AU), and stratum III (owning > 6.84 AU). Primary data were collected by survey method with structured questionnaire and secondary data obtained from related sources. Data analysed descriptively and calculated using economic formulation. Results showed that generally the latest farmers education level was elementary school, on the productive age, and more than ten years of dairy farming experience. Stratum I obtained highest revenue and production cost which were IDR 46,226/AU/day and IDR 40,700/AU/day, respectively. Stratum III was the most feasible dairy farming business based on 6.69 liters/AU/day of BEP unit or IDR 3,961/liter of BEP price and 1.16 of R/C ratio, 6.96% of ROA, and 7.70% of ROE. It was suggested to increase the productive dairy cattle owning by shareholding programme, improve the management and knowledge of dairy farming to get higher rentability by extension and training.
