Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji perbedaan komitmen organisasi antara karyawan usia dewasa awal dan dewasa madya. Hipotesis yang diajukan adalah terdapat perbedaan komitmen organisasi antara karyawan usia dewasa awal dan dewasa madya. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif yang bersifat komparasi. Penentuan jumlah sampel dihitung mengunakan rumus slovin yang menghasilkan responden sejumlah 54 orang, selanjutnya menggunakan insidental sampling sebagai teknik sampling untuk menentukan responden. Kriteria responden adalah karyawan dengan rentang usia 18-60 tahun yang dikategorikan ke dalam dua kelompok usia, yaitu usia dewasa awal dan usia dewasa madya. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu Organizational Commitment Scale oleh Meyer, Allen, dan Smith (1993) dan dianalisis menggunakan teknik Independent Sample T-Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan affective commitment (p = 0,010), continuance commitment (p = 0,014) dan normative commitment (p = 0,008) antara karyawan usia dewasa awal dan dewasa madya, dimana karyawan usia dewasa madya memiliki komitmen organisasi lebih tinggi daripada karyawan usia dewasa awal.

English Abstract

This research aims to exercise the organizational commitment differences between early-adult employees and middle-adult employees. Its proposed hypothesis assumed that there is a distinction of organizational commitment between those two objects. This paper uses comparative study through the quantitative research methods. The number of samples has been calculated by Slovin formula that produces 54 respondents, then those respondents were chosen by using insidental sampling technique. Furthermore, the criteria of respondents are those workers within 18-60 year-old, then it was categorized by two ages groups (early-adult and middle-adult). The analytical instrument of this research is taking Organizational Commitment Scale by Meyer, Allen, and Smith (1993), then the data is analyzed by using Independent Sample T-Test technique. Therefore, the result reveals that there is a distinction of affective commitment (p=0.010), continuance commitment (p=0.014), and normative commitment (p=0.008) between early-adult employees and middle-adult employees where the older staffs (middle-adulthood) have more organizational commitment rather than those who are younger (early-adulthood).
