Abstract
Ibu merupakan anggota keluarga yang memiliki peran penting dalam jalannya suatu rumah tangga. Rumah tangga dengan kondisi rawan pangan menjadi tantangan sendiri bagi ibu yang memiliki anak dengan kondisi BGM. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi peran ibu yang memiliki anak BGM didalam rumah tangga rawan pangan di daerah dengan kepadatan penduduk yang tinggi di Kota Surabaya. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi yang dilakukan dengan wawancara mendalam pada 10 informan utama dan 3 informan pendukung yang sesuai dengan kriteria inklusi. Hasil penelitian mendapatkan 4 tema utama terkait bagaimana peran ibu dalam pengasuhan balita BGM dalam kondisi rumah tangga yang rawan pangan, yaitu peran ibu sebagai pengambil keputusan terkait tindakan yang berhubungan dengan kesehatan anak BGM, peran ibu sebagai pengambil keputusan terkait tindakan yang berhubungan dengan kebutuhan asupan anak BGM, sikap ibu pada kepercayaan budaya terkait pengobatan alternatif untuk anak yang BGM, dan peran ibu sebagai yang bertanggungjawab pada penggunaan pendapatan khususnya pada penyediaan makanan keluarga. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini yaitu pemilihan tindakan ibu memiliki kontribusi penting dalam pengasuhan anak terutama terkait perbaikan dan pencegahan kondisi BGM dalam rumah tangga yang rawan pangan, yang mana tindakan tersebut dipengaruhi oleh budaya, peran ibu dalam rumah tangga, dan lingkungan sosial dan ekonomi yang memengaruhinya.
English Abstract
Mothers are family members who have important roles in the running of a household. Food insecurity households have their own challenges for mothers with Below the Red Line children. The aim of this study was to explore the roles of mothers with under five Below the Red Line Children in food-insecured households in the most densely populated sub-districts in Surabaya. This study used a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, with data collection carried out by in-depth interviews on 10 informants who were accordance to inclusion criteria. The results of the study found 4 main themes related to how the mothers’ roles in caring under five children below the red line in conditions of food-insecured households, namely the role of mothers as decision makers related to health behavior for children, the role of mothers as decision makers related to food behavior children’s intake needs, the attitude of mothers to cultural beliefs related to alternative medicine for under five children below the red line, and the role of mothers as responsible for the use of income especially in the provision of family food with social stigma. The results of these qualitative research findings indicate the need to understand the roles of mothers with under five children below the red line and the factors that influence them to help overcome and prevent below the red line children in food-insecured households. The conclusion of this research is mothers’ actions have an important contribution in childcare, especially if it related to the improvement and prevention of below the red line condition in food-insecured households, which are influenced by cultures, the roles of mothers in the households, and the environment of social and economic that influenced.
