Abstract
Remaja memiliki ciri perkembangan yaitu pencarian identitas diri. Emosi remaja masih belum stabil dalam menghadapi masalah dan cenderung melakukan tindakan yang kurang baik seperti cyberbullying. Banyaknya faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi perilaku cyberbullying, salah satunya adalah kemampuan empati. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis hubungan kemampuan empati remaja dengan perilaku cyberbullying pada siswa/i SMP Negeri 26 Kota Malang. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik cross-sectional. Kuesioner modifikasi Revised-Cyberbullying Inventory (RCBI) dan Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI). Responden pada penelitian ini sebanyak 82 siswa yang dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik stratified random sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan responden memiliki kemampuan empati dalam kategori sedang (51,22%) dan responden memiliki perilaku cyberbullying dalam kategori rendah (64,63%). Hasil uji statistik korelasi spearman rank adalah p-value 0,000 yang mempunyai makna bahwa adanya hubungan yang signifikan artinya jika kemampuan empati lebih tinggi maka perilaku cyberbullying semakin rendah, dengan r = -0,620 yang maknanya kuat. Saran untuk penelitian selanjutnya adalah penelitian perilaku cyberbullying dengan menggunakan teknik observasi selama enam bulan untuk menentukan remaja dominan menjadi pelaku atau korban dan meneliti faktor perilaku cyberbullying dengan faktor selain kemampuan empati.
English Abstract
Teenagers have a common characteristic during their development, that is selfidentity searching. Teenager’s emotion is unstable in facing problems and they tend to show inappropriate behavior such as cyberbullying. There are many factors which influence cyberbullying, one of them is empathy. The purpose of this research is to know the correlation between teenagers’ emotion to cyberbullying on the students of State Junior High School 26 of Malang City. This research used cross-sectional technique. The questionnaires were modified using Revised-Cyberbullying Inventory (RCBI) and Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI). There were 82 students selected as samples using stratified random sampling technique. The research result found there were 51,22% respondents who showed empathy, categorized into fair category; and 64,63% respondents who exercised cyberbullying, categorized into poor category. The spearman rank’s correlational statistic test result was p-value 0,000 showing that there is a significant correlation; meaning that cyberbullying rate decreases as empathy increases, with r= -0,620 which represents strong correlation. For further research, it is recommended to conduct an observation for six months to determine teenagers who are dominant to be the bully or victim and to research factors which may contribute to cyberbullying other than empathy.
