Abstract
Masa remaja adalah sebuah fase yang penting dalam tahap perkembangan manusia karena pada fase ini remaja mulai menghadapi dunia luar yang dapat mempengaruhi kepribadian mereka. Pada skripsi ini penulis berusaha menganalisis bagaimana pengaruh teman sebaya dan keluarga terhadap kepribadian Greg dalam film Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi pengaruh teman sebaya dan keluarga terhadap kepribadian Greg. Untuk menganalisis kepribadian tokoh utama dalam film ini, peneliti menggunakan teori dari Erik Erikson di buku Childhood and Society (2010). Terdapat 8 tahapan kepribadian manusia yang diusulkan oleh Erikson. Selain itu, penulis hanya menggunakan satu dari delapan tahapan kepribadian manusia yang merupakan identitas vs kebingungan peran. Kedua aspek tersebut diterapkan sejak usia karakter adalah 13 tahun Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini, keluarga bukan satu-satunya penyebab perubahan kepribadian yang dialami Greg. Namun, keluarga memiliki peranan besar sebagai pedoman utama norma dan nilai kehidupan. Teman sebaya juga memiliki peran penting dalam pembentukan kepribadian Greg. Untuk peneliti selanjutnya, terutama mereka yang tertarik untuk melakukan penelitian pada objek yang sama, mereka bisa mengambil seri film yang terbaru dari Diary of a Wimpy Kid untuk menemukan perkembangan kepribadian dari Greg lebih jauh.
English Abstract
The adolescent is a crucial phase of human development because teenagers start to encounter the outside world which can affect their personality. In this undergraduate thesis, the researcher tried to investigate the influences of peers and family on Greg’s personality Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie. To analyze the personality of the main character in the movie, the researcher used a theory by Erik Erikson. There are eight stages of human life that shape people’s personality proposed by Erikson. Moreover, the researches only used one of the eight stages of human life which is Identity vs. Identity Confusion. Those two aspects are applied since the range of the character’s age is around 13 years old. The result of this study shows that family is not the only cause of personality development that Greg undergoes. The family has a significant role as the main guidance of norms and life values. Peers, in fact also have an important role in Greg's personality development. For the next researchers, particularly those who are interested in researching the same material object, they can take its newer series of Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie to find the personality development of Greg further.
