Abstract

The Kingdom of Heaven adalah film yang di angkat dari buku yang berjudul The Kingdom of Heaven karya William Monahan, yang kemudiann dibuat versi Film oleh Ridlle Scott. Film ini diproduksi oleh orang Amerika. Amerika dikenal sebagai negara yangkuat dan unggul sehingga Amerika dapat mengambil kendali atas sistem negara lain termasuk negara yang telah di jajah dan negara yang memiliki perjanjian dengan Amerika Serikat. Film ini bercerita tentang Balian De Ibelin, seorang yang kehilangan istrinya dan pindah ke Yerussalem untuk pengampunan dosa istrinya kepada Tuhan di kota Yerussalem. Datangnya Balian ke Yerussalem menjadikan Balian sebagai seorang tentara salib yang diwarisi dari ayahnya yang bernama Godfrey De Ibelin. Balian bertugas menjga kerak pada perang melawan Muslim. Balian menjadi seorang tentara salib untuk menebus dosa istrinya kepada Tuhan dan kerajaan di Yerussalem. Balian mengabdi pada kerajaan untuk mempertahankan Yerussalem dari orang Muslim. Apa hubungan kekuasaan yang di gambarkan pada film The Kingdom of Heaven. Penelitian ini mengunakan konsep hubungan kekuasaan, kekuasaan Amerika, dan Studi Film. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah masyarakat di Yerusallem di kontrol oleh kekuasaan. Power menargetkan kepercayaan masyarakat sebagai keuntungan yang akan di tukar oleh harapan masyarakat kepada orang yang memiliki power.

English Abstract

The Kingdom of Heaven is a film based on a book called The Kingdom of Heaven by William Monahan, which made into a film version by Ridley Scott. This movie produced by American people, America is known as a powerful and superior country so America can take control over the system of other countries including the countries that have been colonized and the countries that have a deal with the America.The movie tells the story of Balian De Ibelin, a man who lost his wife and moved to Jerusalem for the forgiveness of his wife's sins to God in the city of Jerusalem. The arrival of Balian to Jerusalem made Balian a crusader inherited from his father named Godfrey De Ibelin. Balian is tasked with guarding the scale of the war against Muslims. Balian became a crusader to atone for his wife's sins to God and the kingdom in Jerusalem. Balian served the kingdom to defend Jerusalem from Muslims. What is the power relation portrayed in The Kingdom of Heaven by American perspective. This study uses the concept of power relation, American power, and Movie Studies. The result of this research is that the people in Jerusalem are controlled by power. Power targets public believe as an advantage that will be exchanged by the expectations of community expectations for people who have power.
