Abstract
Penelitian ini berangkat dari kurangnya pemahaman mendalam akan ilmu komunikasi maupun tokoh-tokoh di dalamnya. Masyarakat umum maupun yang menempuh pendidikan tinggi komunikasi mengenal komunikasi hanya sebagian sisi saja. Disisi lain, upaya untuk mengetahui keseluruhan ilmu dapat dilihat dari sejarah sebagai pedoman dalam memahami kondisi kontemporer (Zelizer, 2008). Penelitian ini mencoba untuk mengenalkan tokoh-tokoh komunikasi di Indonesia, bagaimana kontribusi mereka dalam perkembangan komunikasi di Indonesia. Tokoh komunikasi Indonesia yang dibahas dalam penelitian ini adalah Prof. Dedy Nur Hidayat. Sayangnya pengetahuan akan tokoh ini dan kontribusi sebagai bagian dari sejarah komunikasi Indonesia masih kurang banyak mendapatkan perhatian dari masyarakat. Penelitian ini berusaha menjawab pertanyaan penelitian tentang bagaimana mengenalkan tokoh komunikasi Prof. Dedy Nur Hidayat dan kontribusinya dalam perkembangan komunikasi di Indonesia menggunakan perspektif communication history untuk melihat bahwa penelitian mengenai tokoh komunikasi menjadi bagian dari sejarah komunikasi. Dalam mengulas communication history akan tokoh komunikasi menggunakan metode performance research dengan menggunakan data naratif. Hasil analisis data menemukan bahwa; (1) sosok Prof. Dedy Nur Hidayat masih kurang dipahami oleh masyarakat; (2) belajar sejarah melalui pendekatan seni merupakan cara belajar yang lebih menyenangkan dengan menggunakan media video mapping; (3) Mengetahui tokoh-tokoh komunikasi dan kntribusinya merupakan hal yang penting untuk dipelajari oleh masyarakat. Analisis data juga menemukan bahwa pemikiran Prof. Dedy Nur Hidayat dicirikhaskan dengan pendekatan-pendekatan teori kritis.
English Abstract
This research departs from a lack of in-depth understanding of the science of communication and the figures in it. The general public and those who take higher education in communication recognize communication only on a few sides. On the other hand, efforts to find out the whole of science can be seen from history as a guide in understanding contemporary conditions (Zelizer, 2008). This research tries to introduce communication figures in Indonesia, how they contribute to the development of communication in Indonesia. The Indonesian communication figures discussed in this study were Prof. Dedy Nur Hidayat. Unfortunately the knowledge of these figures and contributions as part of Indonesia's history of communication still lacks much attention from the public. This study seeks to answer research questions about how to introduce communication figures Prof. Dedy Nur Hidayat and his contribution to the development of communication in Indonesia use the perspective of communication history to see that research on communication figures is part of the history of communication The research method used in this study is performance research using narrative data. The results of data analysis found that; (1) the figure of Prof. Dedy Nur Hidayat is still poorly understood by public; (2) learning history through an art approach is a more fun way of learning by using video mapping media; (3) Knowing the figures of communication and their contribution are important things to learn by the public. Data analysis also found that Prof. Dedy Nur Hidayat was highlighted by critical theoretical approaches.
