Abstract

Hubungan antar saudara kandung dalam keluarga terkadang bisa beresiko jika tidak ditangani dengan hati-hati seperti yang digambarkan dalam film The Boss Baby di mana Tim dan Boss Baby membenci satu sama lain karena perbedaan ekslusivitas. Dalam The Art of Loving, Erich Fromm menyatakan bahwa cinta persaudaraan adalah cinta yang paling mendasar yang mempertegas semua jenis cinta; cinta ini berdasarkan pada pengalaman bahwa kita semua adalah satu yang ditandai dengan kurangnya ekslusivitas. Hubungan ini dapat dilihat pada film The Boss Baby yang mana kedua pemeran utamanya membangun cinta persaudaraan melalui interaksi mereka. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori The Art of Loving yang digagas oleh Erich Fromm dalam menganalisis data. Data penelitian yang berupa potongan percakapan dan tangkapan layar adegan diambil dari film The Boss Baby yang dirilis oleh 20th Century Fox tahun 2017. Dalam mengumpulkan data, penulis memilih adegan yang cocok dan menggunakan teknik mencatat. Dalam film tersebut, Tim dan Boss Baby melakukan serangkaian aksi untuk menunjukkan cinta persaudaraan mereka seperti menyuapi Boss Baby, memakai baju yang sama, dan menceritakan kisah sebelum tidur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mereka pada akhirnya saling mencintai yang mana awalnya tidak ada cinta antar saudara antara Tim dan The Boss Baby. Tahapan dalam mencapai cinta antar saudara yang dilakukan oleh kedua pihak adalah berkompromi dengan ekslusivitas mereka dan berpura-pura mencintai satu sama lain.

English Abstract

The relation among siblings in a family sometimes can be at risk if not handled carefully like pictured on The Boss Baby movie where Tim and Boss Baby who are siblings that hate each other due to exclusivity differences. In The Art of Loving, Erich Fromm stated that brotherly love is the most fundamental love which underlines all types of love; it is based on the experience that we all are one characterized by the lack of exclusivity. Such relationship can be seen through the movie The Boss Baby, the two main characters develop the brotherly love through their interaction. This research is trying to find what Tim and Boss Baby do to show their brotherly love. This research used The Art of Loving theory by Erich Fromm in analyzing the data. The data of this research which are dialogues and scene shots was taken from The Boss Baby movie released by 20th Century Fox in 2017. In collecting the data, the writer selected suitable scene and used note-taking technique. In the movie, Tim and Boss Baby did series of actions to show their brotherly love such as feeding Boss Baby, matching costume with him, and tell him bedtime story. The results shows they really love each other in the end where at first there is no brotherly love between Tim and Boss Baby in the beginning. To show the brotherly love in their relationship, they are compromising their exclusivity and pretending to love each other which had done by both sides.
