Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh munculnya fenomena perkembangan kajian ilmu komunikasi di Indonesia yang terlalu berpusat pada beberapa kajian yang seragam seperti Public Relation, Kajian Media, dan Manajemen / Periklanan saja. Hal ini menyebabkan kajian ilmu komunikasi selain kajian tersebut tidak berkembang, sehingga kajian ilmu komunikasi di Indonesia terancam stagnan dan tidak mampu bersaing dengan kajian ilmu dari negara lain. Penelitian ini berusaha merubah pemahaman masyarakat awam maupun sivitas akademika yang memiliki ketertarikan pada kajian ilmu komunikasi di Indonesia dengan memperkenalkan sejarah tokoh komunikasi Astrid S. Susanto dan kiprahnya dalam mengembangkan kajian ilmu komunikasi pembangunan melalui perspektif Communication History dan metode Performance Research, sehingga masyarakat awam maupun sivitas akademika mampu memahami keberagaman kajian ilmu komunikasi dan sejarah panjang ilmu komunikasi yang sebenarnya. Kegiatan Performance Research yang dilakukan akan menampilkan seminar mengenai sejarah perkembangan ilmu komunikasi dan pengantar Performance Research, pembacaan puisi mengenai kritik terhadap perkembangan ilmu komunikasi, penampilan Video Mapping berisi sejarah tokoh ilmu komunikasi (salah satunya Astrid S. Susanto), dan ditutup dengan penampilan musik tradisional. Kemudian dokumentasi dari acara Performance Research akan didokumentasikan dan disebarluaskan melalui Youtube dan website Jurusan Ilmu Komunikasi dan FISIP Universitas Brawijaya. Hasil dari analisis data membuktikan bahwa; (1) pemahaman sivitas akademika dan masyarakat mengenai sejarah ilmu komunikasi masih kurang baik; (2) pengetahuan sivitas akademika dan masyarakat mengenai tokoh – tokoh awal pelopor kajian ilmu komunikasi di Indonesia masih kurang baik; (3) Performance Research yang menampilkan Video Mapping dinilai mampu menjadi media pembelajaran alternatif yang baik untuk mengkomunikasikan isu – isu yang diangkat oleh penulis kepada sivitas akademika dan masyarakat awam. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian yang dilajutkan dari skripsi karya Dwi Kurniawati Pratiwi yang berjudul Srikandi Ilmuan Komunikasi Indonesia (Studi Eksploratif pada Pemikiran Prof. Dr. Phill. Astrid S. Susanto sebagai tokoh Komunikasi di Indonesia). Peneliti menggunakan penelitian terdahulu tersebut sebagai data penunjang untuk lebih mengenal seperti apa tokoh komunikasi Astrid S. Susanto.
English Abstract
This research is motivated by the emergence of the phenomenon of the development of communication science studies in Indonesia which is too centered on several mainstream studies such as Public Relations, Media Studies, and Management / Advertising only. This causes the study of communication science in addition to mainstream studies not to develop, so that the study of communication science in Indonesia is threatened with stagnation and unable to compete with the study of science from other countries. This study seeks to change the understanding of ordinary people and academics who have an interest in communication science studies in Indonesia by introducing the history of communication figures Astrid S. Susanto and their work in developing development communication studies through the perspective of Communication History and Performance Research methods, so that ordinary people and civitas academics are able to understand the diversity of communication science studies and the long history of real communication science. Performance Research activities conducted will feature seminars on the history of the development of communication science and introduction to Performance Research, poetry readings on criticisms of the development of communication science, the appearance of Video Mapping containing the history of communication science leaders (one of them Astrid S. Susanto), and closed with traditional music . Then the documentation of the Performance Research event will be documented and disseminated via Youtube and the website of the Brawijaya University Department of Communication and FISIP. The results of data analysis prove that; (1) the understanding of the academics and the public regarding the history of communication science is still not good; (2) the knowledge of the academics and the public regarding the early figures of the pioneers of communication science studies in Indonesia is still not good; (3) Performance Research that displays Video Mapping is considered capable of being a good alternative learning media to communicate issues raised by writers to academicians and the general public. This research is a research carried out from the work of Dwi Kurniawati Pratiwi's thesis entitled Indonesian Communication Scientists Srikandi (Explorative Study on the Thought of Prof. Dr. Phill. Astrid S. Susanto as a Communication figure in Indonesia). The researcher used the previous research as supporting data to get to know what communication figure Astrid S. Susanto was.
