Abstract

Film adalah jenis karya sastra yang paling populer. Film adalah produk sastra yang mengandung makna. Salah satu film yang memiliki pesan atau menyampaikan makna adalah Lady Bird (2017) yang disutradarai oleh Greta Gerwig. Lady Bird menceritakan tentang perjuangan seorang siswi sekolah menengah atas bernama Christine “Lady Bird” McPherson yang ingin mewujudkan mimpinya dan menjadi sukses. Oleh karena itu, tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis usaha Lady Bird untuk mewujudkan mimpinya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dimana data yang digunakan berupa dialog dan adegan adegan yang menggambarkan setiap proses Lady Bird untuk mewujudkan mimpinya pada film ini. Teori Psikologi Individu digunakan untuk menganalisis setiap proses yang Lady Bird lakukan. Studi film digunakan sebagai ide-ide pendukung saat menganalisis data yang sudah dikumpulkan. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa Lady Bird menunjukkan semua prinsip dalam teori Psikologi Individu, yaitu perasaan inferior, kesadaran diri, kreativitas, gaya hidup, perjuangan meraih keunggualan, tujuan semu, dan minat sosial. Dia berhasil menjadi seorang mahasiswi dari sebuah universitas terkenal di New York karena dia memiliki semangat untuk berjuang. Penulis menyarankan peneliti selanjutnya yang tertarik untuk menganalisis film yang sama untuk menggunakan pendekatan lain, seperti teori aktualisasi diri oleh Abraham Maslow karena teori ini dapat digunakan untuk menganalisis level aktualisasi diri Lady bird.

English Abstract

Movie is the most popular kind of literary works. Movie is a product of literature which conveys meaning. One of the movie which have a message or conveys meaning is Lady Bird (2017) by Greta Gerwig. Lady Bird shows a struggle of a high school student named Christine “Lady Bird” McPherson who wants to make her dream come true and become successful. Therefore, the objective of this study is to analyze Lady Bird’s strive to make her dream come true. The study uses qualitative approach of which the data are in the forms of dialogues and scene illustrating each process of Lady Bird’s strive to make her dream come true in the movie. The theory of Individual Psychology is applied to analyze each process of Lady Bird’s action. Movie studies is also applied as supporting ideas during analyzing the data that have been collected. The result of the research reveals that Lady Bird shows all the principles in Individual Psychology theory, which is inferiority feelings, conscious self, creative eslf, style of life, striving of superiority, fictional goal, and social interest. She becomes a student from a famous university in New York because she has the spirit to strive. The writer suggests the next researchers who are interested in the same movie to analyze with different approach, such as self-actualization by Abraham Maslow because the theory can be used to analyze Lady Bird’s level of self-actualization.
