Abstract

Jagung manis merupakan komoditas palawija dan termasuk dalam keluarga rumput-rumputan dan spesies Zea mays saccharata Sturt. Jagung manis banyak dikonsumsi karena memiliki rasa yang lebih manis dibandingkan jagung biasa. Produksi jagung manis rata-rata di Indonesia hanya 8,31 ton tongkol segar ha-1 padahal produksi jagung manis dapat mencapai 18-25 ton ha-1. Rendahnya produksi jagung manis akibat penggunaan bahan anorganik terus menerus dan berlebihan. Salah satu upaya dalam meningkatkan produksi dan hasil tanaman jagung di Indonesia yaitu dengan cara pengaplikasian pupuk organik dan penentuan umur panen yang tepat. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui respon pertumbuhan dan hasil jagung manis pada perlakuan pupuk trichokompos yang dipanen pada umur berbeda. Hipotesis dari penelitian ialah diduga penggunaan pupuk trichokompos 20 ton ha-1 dan umur panen 70 hst memiliki hasil yang tertinggi. Penelitian telah dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan Mojosari pada bulan 01 Februari 2019 – 18 April 2019. Kebun Percobaan Mojosari memiliki ketinggianya ± 28 mdpl. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok dengan 12 perlakuan yang diulang 3 kali. Pengamatan dilakukan secara destruktif dan non destruktif. Pengamatan destruktif meliputi tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, diameter batang dan luas daun. Sedangkan pengamatan destruktif meliputi bobot brangkasan, berat tongkol dan kelobot, diameter tongkol, panjang tongkol, jumlah baris pertongkol dan jumlah biji pertongkol dan tingkat kemanisan. Perlakuan pemberian pupuk trichokompos yang dipanen pada umur berbeda tidak memberikan pengaruh nyata pada parameter pertumbuhan tanaman yaitu tinggi tanaman, diameter batang, jumlah daun dan luas daun. Perlakuan pemberian pupuk trichokompos yang dipanen pada umur berbeda memberikan pengaruh nyata pada parameter hasil yaitu bobot brangkasan basah, bobot brangkasan kering, berat tongkol berkelobot, berat tongkol tanpa kelobot, berat tongkol,diameter tongkol, tingkat kemanisan dan hasil panen ha-1. Perlakuan dosis pupuk trichokompos 20 ton ha-1 yang dipanen umur 70 hst (P11) memperoleh dan meningkatkan hasil yang lebih tinggi yaitu 26,25 ton ha-1 (54%) dibandingkan tanpa pupuk trichokompos yang dipanen pada umur 60 hst (P1) yaitu 7,39 ton ha-1.

English Abstract

Sweet corn is a commodity of pulses and is included in the grass family and the species Zea mays saccharata Sturt. Sweet corn is widely consumed because it has a sweeter taste than ordinary corn. The average sweet corn production in Indonesia is only 8.31 tons of fresh cob ha-1 even though the production of sweet corn can reach 18-25 tons ha-1. The low production of sweet corn is caused by land degradation due to continuous and excessive use of inorganic materials. One effort in increasing the production and yield of corn plants in Indonesia is by applying organic fertilizers and determining the right age for harvesting. The study aimed to determine the growth response and yield of sweet corn in the treatment of trichocompost fertilizer harvested at different ages. The hypothesis of this research is that it is suspected that the use of trichocompost fertilizer 20 tons ha-1 and harvest age 70 days have the best results. The research has been carried out at the Mojosari Experimental Garden on February 1- April 18 2019. The Mojosari Experimental Garden has an altitude of ± 28 mdpl. The experimental design used was a randomized block design with 12 treatments which were repeated 3 times. Observations are carried out destructively and non destructively. Destructive observations include plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter and leaf area. Whereas destructive observations include stover weight, ear weight and weight, ear diameter, ear length, number of row collisions and number of seedlings and sweetness. The treatment of trichocompost fertilizer harvested at different ages did not have a significant effect on plant growth parameters, namely plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves and leaf area. The treatment of trichocompost fertilizer harvested at different ages gave a significant effect on the parameters of the yield, namely wet stover weight, dry stover weight, weighted cob weight, ear weight without weight, ear weight, ear diameter, sweetness and yield ha-1. The treatment of trichocompost fertilizer dosage of 20 tons ha-1 harvested at age 70 days (P11) obtained and increased the yield higher at 26.25 tons ha-1 (54%) than without trichocompost which was harvested at 60 hst (P1) 7.39 tons ha-1.
