Abstract
Informasi merupakan kebutuhan yang perlu dipenuhi oleh setiap orang dalam menjalankan aktifitas kehidupan mereka. Saat ini merupakan masa-masa menuju pemilu 2019, sebagai masyarakat yang menyadari perannya sebagai bagian dari suatu bangsa sudah sewajarnya memiliki kebutuhan informasi terkait pemilu terutama sebagai pertimbangan dalam menentukan pilihan. Mahasiswa merupakan bagian dari masyarakat yang berpendidikan, seharusnya bisa memenuhi kebutuhan informasi dengan melakukan pencarian informasi secara efektif. Namun saat ini banyak hoax information yang bertebaran, apalagi informasi terkait pemilu 2019. Maka dari itu penelitian ini ingin mengetahui sejauh mana perilaku pencarian informasi mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Administrasi kaitannya dengan pemilu 2019 sebagai upaya memperoleh informasi yang memang benar. Penelitian ini juga ingin mengetahui faktor pendukung dan penghambat dalam pencarian informasi terkait pemilu 2019 tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menyebar kuesioner kepada 97 sampel yang merupakan mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Administrasi Universitas Brawijaya, dengan teknik purposive sampling. Penelitian ini dikaji berdasarkan tahapan perilaku pencarian informasi model Ellis yang meliputi indikator starting, chaining, browsing, differentiating, monitoring, extracting serta faktor pendukung dan penghambat pencarian informasi dari Wilson. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan analisis statistik deskriptif dengan pengukuran skor menggunakan skala interval. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perilaku pencarian infornasi mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Administrasi terkait pemilu 2019 adalah positif. Hal ini dibuktikan dari hasil analisis perolehan skor 19 item dari 6 indikator dengan total nilai rata-rata sebesar 2,97. Nilai ini berada pada skala interval 2,51 – 3,25. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Administrasi melakukan proses pencarian informasi dengan baik dan teliti. Faktor pendukung dalam pencarian informasi mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Administrasi yaitu motivasi dalam pencarian yang tinggi, keseriusan pencarian informasi dalam upaya mendapat informasi yang benar dan kemampuan komunikasi yang baik. Sedang faktor penghambatnya yaitu tidak mudahnya memperoleh sumber informasi yang dapat dipercaya.
English Abstract
Information is needed that should be met by everyone in carrying out their life activities. Nowadays is the time for election 2019, as society that understand about the society’s role as the part of a nation, society has the need for information related to election as a consideration in making choices. Students are part of educated society, should be able to meet their information needs by seeking information effectively. But, currently, there are many hoaxes information that spread, especially information related to election 2019. Therefore, this study aimed to understand how far the information searching behavior of faculty of administration students related to election 2019 as an effort to obtain the right information. This study also aimed to understand the supporting and inhibiting factors in searching information related to the election 2019. Research methods that used in this study was descriptive method with quantitative approach. The data collection conducted by using questionnaire to 97 samples that were students of faculty of administration, Brawijaya University, by using purposive sampling technique. This study studied according to the steps of searching information behavior of Ellis model that included starting, chaining, browsing, differentiating, monitoring, extracting and Wilson model used to study supporting and inhibiting factors. Data analysis in this study used descriptive statistical analysis with score measurement using interval scale. The result of study shown that information searching behavior of faculty of administration students related to election 2019 was positive. This proved by the average value of 19 items from 6 indicators as much as 2.97, this value was on interval scale of 2.51 – 3.25 this shown that students of faculty of administration searched for information well and carefully. Supporting factors in searching information that experienced by students of faculty of administration were high motivation in searching information, seriousness in searching the information as an effort to obtain the right information and good ability in communication. While the inhibiting factor was difficulty in obtaining the reliable of information source.
