Abstract
Ikatan Waria Madiun merupakan komunitas waria yang terbentuk secara mandiri oleh para waria di Kabupaten Madiun. Adanya diskriminasi dan stigma yang negatif terhadap para waria di Karesidenan Madiun menyebabkan IWAMA Madiun membuati program kegiatan pemberdayaan. Penelitian ini mengkaji mengenai strategi pemberdayaan yang dilakukan oleh IWAMA Madiun pada waria di Karesidenan Madiun. Hal tersebut penting dikaji agar dapat memberikan manfaat akademis dan praktis mengenai pemberdayaan yang dilaksanakan untuk waria. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori ACTORS dari Sarah Cook dan Steve Macaulay. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Teknik penentuan informan menggunakan teknik purposive dimana penentuan informan ditentukan terlebih dahulu sesuai dengan indikator informan yang sudah dibuat. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa pemberdayaan yang dilakukan oleh IWAMA Madiun berjalan dengan efektif, kegiatan input pemberdayaan dilakukan tanpa paksaan sehingga waria mengikuti pemberdayaan ini dengan nyaman. Pemberdayaan yang dilakukan mampu mengentaskan kemiskinan pada waria, hal tersebut terbukti dari anggota iwama banyak yang mandiri secara ekonomi melalui kegiatan pemberdayaan yang telah diikuti, pemberdayaan mengarahkan waria menjadi pekerja seni juga terbukti dapat menghapuskan stigma negatif pada waria yang distigmakan sebagai sumber penyakit dan hanya bisa bekerja sebagai psk. Pemberdayaan mengarahkan waria menjadi pekerja seni terbukti efektif memperbaiki penerimaan masyarakat terhadap para waria di Karesidenan Madiun.
English Abstract
The bond of a transvestite madiun constitute a community transvestites who formed autonomously by some of the transvestites in madiun district a large .That there had been discrimination and a stigma which is of this were felt in some of the transvestites in karesidenan madiun cause to iwama madiun membuati time for the empowerment activities program .This study looks at a question of strategy the empowerment undertaken by iwama madiun on a transvestite in karesidenan madiun. They matter examined that can be beneficial for academic and practical on the empowerment conducted in transvestites .This research using the theory actors of sarah cook and steve macaulay .The kind of research used is research qualitative approach case study .Technique the determination of informants using a technique purposive where the determination of informants determined first in accordance with indicators informants already made .
