English Abstract

Human Trafficking nowadays is not as rare as you might think, while modern slavery is the second biggest and fastest growing industry in the world next to drugs trafficking. Trafficking of persons has been rising as one of the biggest threats to global security, with millions of people, often women and children, being abducted, shipped across borders, and exploited for profit. Human trafficking is defined as the recruitment, transfer, concealment or acceptance of people by means of threats or use of force or other forms of coercion by using kidnapping, fraud and abuse of power for the purpose of exploitation. This Thesis will focus on India, specifically the Trafficking of Persons Bill, 2018 and its impact on tackling the Human trafficking problem not only in India but also in south Asia Since human trafficking is happening not only in India, but cross border, South Asian countries are the most impacted by this. The paper will examine different aspects that contribute to the bill’s effectiveness and their Influence on the Bill’s successful implementation, using Van Meter and Van Horn’s Policy Implementation model.
