Syifa’uddin, Muhammad (2019) Pengaruh Holding Time Terhadap Laju Perambatan Retak Hasil Las Gesek Alumunium Silinder A6061. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.
Abstract
Didapatkan perbandingan laju perambatan retak pada faktor intensitas tegangan (SIF) 6 MPa√m untuk variasi upset holding time 20 detik sebesar 7 10-5 mm/sik us, upset holding time 40 detik laju perambatan retak sebesar 6 10-5 mm/sik us, dan untuk upset holding time 60 detik laju perambatan retak sebesar 5,4 10-5 mm/sik us.
English Abstract
The current welding process is very important in the world of manufacturing, especially in the field of construction, especially friction welding is the right method for aluminum welding because the connection process is carried out in solid state where the weld specimens do not melt and heat centered on the weld surface area and aluminum has thermal conductivity Its height and usage are widely used in structures, engine components and industries. This study aims to observe the crack propagation rate on the results of Continuous Drive Friction Welding (CDFW) method, uses a series of aluminum material 6061. The welding parameters used in this study include a 7 kN initial compressive force for 3 seconds with a variation of upset holding time of 20 seconds. 40 seconds, and 60 seconds, and an upset pressure of 21 kN. To observe the crack propagation results, the results of the welding process will be fatigue tested using the cntilever totary bending test machine with a speed of 1400 rpm, frequency 23.3 Hz and stress ratio R=1. In this study, it was concluded that the higher upset holding time welding parameters affect the fatigue crack propagation rate of specimens of 6061 aluminum friction weld joints. Comparison of crack propagation rates at stress intensity factor (SIF) 6 MPa√m) for a variation of a 20 second holding time of 7 10-5 mm/cycle , an upset holding time of 40 seconds crack propagation rate of 6 10-5 mm/cycle , and for an upset holding time 60 seconds the propagation rate of cracks is 5,4 10-5 mm/cycle. So it can be concluded that the higher the upset holding time can increase the tensile strength, with increasing cohesive tensile strength of the plastic deformation formed between the joint surfaces will increase, because the result of diffusion bonds from metal grains increasingly binds strongly between other metal grains, so that the crack propagation rate decline.
