Abstract
Penelitian ini berlatar belakang dari adanya fenomena budaya populer Jepang cosplay crossdress yang biasa dilakukan oleh otaku pada event jejepangan di Malang. Fokus penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui makna cosplay crossdress pada pelaku cosplay crossdress di Malang. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana cosplayer memaknai peran sebagai cosplay crossdress pada pelaku cosplay crossdress di Malang Penelitian ini menggunakan teori dramaturgi Erving Goffman. Teori tersebut digunakan dalam penelitian ini untuk menggambarkan realitas yang terjadi pada otaku saat melakukan praktik cosplay crossdress di Malang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi diharapkan akan memperoleh data yang menyeluruh. Teknik pengumpulan informan dalam penelitian ini adalah porposive sampling, dengan memfokuskan pada ciri-ciri subyek yang berkaitan dengan penelitian ini. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah ditemukan bahwa praktik cosplay crossdress yang dilakukan oleh otaku di Malang merupakan tindakan yang berdasarkan pada kesenangan terhadap karakter idolanya. Dengan melakukan praktik cosplay crossdress maka otaku tersebut akan merasa menjadi seperti sosok idolanya tersebut, dengan perandaian menjadi karakter yang diidolakan tersebut otaku cosplay crossdress akan merasakan menjadi sosok idolanya, hidup dalam dunianya atau membuat karakter idolanya muncul dalam kehidupannya sebagai living character.
English Abstract
This research have purposed from fenomenome of japanese urban culture called crossdress cosplay that otaku did in almost every japanese event in Malang. The focus of this research is to knowing the meaning of crossdress cosplay from the cosplay preformer in Malang. The purpose of this research is to knowing how cosplayer interpet their role as cosplayer of crossdress cosplay in Malang. This research using dramaturgi theory from Erving Goffman. That theory used in this research to potraying reality that happened in otaku when they doing crossdress cosplay in Malang. The method that used in in this research is qualitative with fenomology approaching. Data accumulation technique in this research is interview, obeservation, and documentation with purposed to get an entire data. The informant accumulation technique in this research is porposive sampling,which focusing in subject characteristic that rellated with this research. The result from this research is knowing that crossdress cosplay that performed by otaku in Malang is the expression based on their love for their favourite idol character. With their performance as crossdress cosplay it mean otaku who performed it they feel like they became their idol entity, with the possibility become their idolize character, otaku who performed crossdress cosplay will feeling become their idol entity, life inside their own world or creating their idol appear in their life as living character.
