Abstract

Peningkatan populasi manusia menyebabkan kebutuhan akan konsumsi energi mengalami peningkatan. Sedangkan, ketersediaan sumber energi fosil (minyak bumi) lama kelamaan akan semakin menipis mengingat energi fosil salah satu energi yang tidak dapat diperbaharui. Rata-rata kenaikan jumlah kendaraan di Indonesia sekitar 8 juta unit pertahunnya dan diproyeksikan akan terus meningkat di tiap tahunnya seiring dengan peningkatan jumlah penduduk Indonesia. Sehingga saat ini diperlukan bahan bakar alternatif pengganti bahan bakar minyak salah satunya yaitu bahan bakar gas. Bahan bakar gas yang dimaksudkan pada penelitian ini adalah Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) dan hidrogen (H2). Penelitian dengan bahan bakar HCNG pada engine 4-langkah dengan variasi igntion timing bertujuan untuk mengetahui variasi igntion timing mana yang dapat menghasilkan emisi gas buang terbaik. Dimana variasi ignition timing yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah igntion timing standard, ignition timing dipercepat (+4o) dan ignition timing diperlambat (-4o) Hasil penelitian yang didapatkan dari hasil penelitian ini adalah pada variasi ignition timing standard menghasilkan emisi gas buang terbaik dibandingkan variasi ignition timing dipercepat (+4o) dan variasi ignition timing diperlambat (-4o). Pada variasi ignition timing standard memiliki pressure dan waktu pembakaran yang tepat sehingga emisi gas buang yang dihasilkan lebih baik dibandingkan variasi ignition timing lainnya. Sedangkan ignition timing diperlambat (-4o) memiliki kandungan emisi gas buang yang lebih baik dibandingkan variasi ignition timing dipercepat (+4o). Hal ini dikarenakan, pada variasi ignition timing diperlambat memiliki pressure cylinder yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan igntion timing dipercepat (+4o) akan tetapi tidak lebih baik dibandingkan ignition timing standar karena, pada variasi ignition timing diperlambat terjadi proses pembakaran yang terlalu lambat sehingga ketika proses pembakaran masih berlangsung sudah terjadi langkah buang (exhaust).

English Abstract

Increased human population causes the need for energy consumption to increase. Whereas, the availability of fossil energy sources (petroleum) over time will be increasingly depleted considering fossil energy is one of the renewable energy. The average increase in the number of vehicles in Indonesia is around 8 million units per year and is projected to continue to increase each year in line with the increase in the population of Indonesia. So that at this time an alternative fuel is needed, one of which is fuel gas. Gas fuel as intended in this study is Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and hydrogen (H2). Research with HCNG fuel on a 4-stroke engine with variations in igntion timing aims to determine which variations in igntion timing can produce the best exhaust emissions. Where the ignition timing variation used in this study is the standard igntion timing, accelerated ignition timing (+4o) and slowed ignition timing (-4o). The results research from the results of this research is ignition timing standard the best exhaust emissions compared with accelerated ignition timing variations (+4o) and the variation of ignition timing is slowed (-4o). The variation of the ignition timing standard has the right pressure and combustion time so that the resulting exhaust emissions are better than other ignition timing variations. While the ignition timing is slowed (-4o) has a better exhaust emissions than accelerated ignition timing variations (+4o). This is because the variations in the ignition timing are slowed to have a pressure cylinder that is higher than accelerated igntion timing (+4o) but it is no better than the standard ignition timing because, in the variation the ignition timing is slowed, the combustion process is too slow the exhaust step has taken place.
