Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana persepsi praktisi public relations terhadap praktik encroachment public relations. Praktik Encroachment public relations merupakan praktik pengambilalihan wewenang public relations yang dapat menjadi penghambat dan dapat menghalangi public relations untuk mencapai tingkat public relations yang excellent. Praktik encroachment public relations dapat membuat praktisi public relations tidak dapat melakukan peran yang seharusnya dijalankan, yakni peran public relations yang dijabarkan dalam teori excellence. Penelitian ini juga akan dilakukan pada praktisi public relations di perusahaan profit di Indonesia, yaitu d PT. PAL Indonesia (Persero) merupakan BUMN. Penelitian ini akan menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Data dalam penelitian ini juga akan dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan teknik wawancara mendalam. Hasil dari penelitian ini berdasarkan wawancara mendalam yang peneliti lakukan terhadap keempat informan dari PT. PAL Indonesia (Persero) yang menjadi objek penelitian menunjukkan bahwa para praktisi public relations menyadari bahwa adanya praktik encroachment yang terjadi.para praktisi Public relations merasa jika departemen hubungan masyarakat berada dibawah naungan divisi sekretaris perusahaan namun praktisi public relations memiliki akses yang luas untuk menyampaikan informasi kepada atasan atau direksi. Para praktisi public relations juga merasa bahwa tugas pokok dan fungsi public relations sudah sesuai dengan semestinya, walaunpun terdapat kegiatan perusahaan yakni CSR dijalankan oleh Unit PKBL namun praktisi public relations tetap berkontribusi dalam CSR. Dan bagi praktisi public relations peran yang dijalankan saat ini telah sesuai dengan kebutuhan perusahaan.

English Abstract

This research aims to determine how public relations practitioners perceive the practice of public relations encroachment. The practice of public relations encroachment is the practice of taking over public relations authority that can become a hindrance and can hinder public relations from reaching the level of excellent public relations. The practice of public relations encroachment can make public relations practitioners unable to carry out the role that should be carried out, that is the role of public relations described in the theory of excellence. This research will also be conducted on public relations practitioners in profit companies in Indonesia, namely PT. PAL Indonesia (Persero) which is a state-owned companies (BUMN). This research will use qualitative methods with descriptive research types. The data in this research will be collected using in-depth interview techniques. The results of this study are based on in-depth interviews that researchers conducted on the four informants from PT. PAL Indonesia (Persero) which is the object of research shows that public relations practitioners realize that the practice of encroachment is happening. Public relations practitioners feel that the public relations department is under the harborage of the company secretary division, but public relations practitioners have broad access to convey information to superiors or directors. Public relations practitioners also feel that the main tasks and functions of public relations are appropriate, even though there are corporate activities, namely CSR run by the PKBL Unit but, public relations practitioners still contribute to CSR. And for public relations practitioners the role that is currently being run is in accordance with the needs of the company
