Abstract
Pada umumnya, film animasi memiliki daya tarik tersendiri bagi anakanak. Namun, di era perang dunia ke-2 film animasi digunakan sebagai alat propaganda oleh kelompok tertentu untuk mempengaruhi opini publik. Salah satunya film animasi propaganda yang populer pada saat itu adalah “Der Fuerher’s Face” tahun 1943. Film ini secara gamblang menggambarkan kejahatan, bahaya dan patriotisme. Poster dari film ini juga cukup menjelaskan aktivitas propaganda. Di dalam kedua medium tersebut terdapat temuan yaitu propaganda digunakan untuk perang ideologi antara pro dan anti Nazi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan ideologi pro-Nazi yang digambarkan adalah ideologi fasisme, sementara ideologi anti-Nazi adalah ideologi liberal. Untuk mengetahui penggambaran ideologi pro dan anti Nazi dalam poster dan film propaganda “Der Fuehrer’s Face” tahun 1943 diperlukan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode analisis isi. Analisis isi di sini berupaya untuk menginterpretasi data berupa penggunaan teks, simbol dan bahasa dalam informasi-informasi yang terdapat dalam poster dan film animasi propaganda. Pertama, peneliti membentuk unit analisis yang dibedakan menurut jenis mediumnya. Kedua, dari hasil unit analisis dibentuk kategori berdasarkan pro dan anti Nazi dari masing-masing medium. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, penggambaran ideologi pro-Nazi pada poster tidak terlihat karena secara indeksial tidak menunjukkan adanya aktivitas atau gerakan dari tokoh Hitler. Sementara isi pesan yang menunjukkan ideologi anti- Nazi ditemukan terlihat dari Donald Duck melempar tomat ke wajah Hitler. Melalui poster ini dapat terlihat, walaupun liberalisme menjunjung tinggi kebebasan individu untuk menghargai perbedaan pandangan politik, liberalisme tidak mentolerasi ideologi Nazi. Sementara pada medium film, representasi ideologi pro-Nazi ditunjukkan mengagung-agungkan ras murni Jerman (Ras Arya), Nazi dan pendukungnya, khususnya Hitler. Hal ini sejalan dengan doktrin fasisme dimana gagasan ini dibentuk dari superioritas rasial dan nasionalisme yang tinggi. Namun, perspektif ideologi anti-Nazi memandang ideologi fasisme sebagai gagasan yang rasis, mendukung perbudakan dan adanya kekejaman secara fisik maupun mental. Sedangkan gambaran ideologi liberal hanya ditampilkan pada akhir film dimana Donald Duck bangun dari mimpi buruknya dan memeluk patung Liberty.
English Abstract
In general, animated films have a special attraction for children. However, in the era of World War 2 animated films were used as a mean of propaganda by certain warfare alliance to influence public opinion. One of them was the animated propaganda film which was popular in 1943 as "Der Fuerher’s Face". The film vividly described crime, danger and patriotism. The poster of this film also encouraged propaganda activities. It was found both in the film and poster that propaganda was used for ideological warfare between pro and anti- Nazi. The results of this study show that pro-Nazi ideology representing fascism ideology, while anti-Nazi ideology portraying liberal ideology. To find out the ideological portrayals of pro and anti-Nazis in propaganda posters and films "Der Fuehrer’s Face" of 1943 a descriptive qualitative approach was needed with the method of content analysis. This analysis is conducted to interpret data in the forms of text, symbols and languages containing information in propaganda posters and animated films. Firstly, researcher build units of analysis that is differentiated according to the type of medium. Secondly, from the results of the analysis categories were generated based on the pro and anti-Nazis of each medium. Based on the analysis results, the portrayal of pro-Nazi ideology on the poster was not detected because it did not indicate that there was an activity or movement from Hitler's figure. While the contents of the message showing anti- Nazi ideology were detected from Donald Duck throwing tomatoes at Hitler's face. Through this poster, it can be seen, although liberalism upholds the freedom of individuals to respect differences in political views, liberalism does not tolerate Nazi ideology. On the medium of film, the representation of pro-Nazi ideology was shown in which they glorified pure German races (Arya Race), Nazis and their supporters, especially Hitler. This is in line with the doctrine of fascism where this idea was formed from racial superiority and high nationalism. However, the perspective of anti-Nazi ideology views the ideology of fascism as a racist idea, supporting slavery and the existence of physical and mental cruelty. While the description of liberal ideology was only shown at the end of the film where Donald Duck woke up from his nightmare and hugged the statue of Liberty.
