Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meninjau upaya apa saja yang telah dilakukan oleh Jepang dan Korea Selatan dalam proses rekonsiliasi terkait Comfort Women pada tahun 1990 hingga tahun 2015. Penelitian ini penting untuk dilakukan karena keberadaan isu Comfort Women menjadi hambatan dalam pembentukkan hubungan yang lebih baik antara kedua negara pasca perang, sehingga penyelesaian isu Comfort Women menjadi bagian dari upaya rekonsiliasi yang perlu ditinjau untuk memahami dinamika proses rekonsiliasi kedua negara. Penelitian ini menggunakan Kerangka Konseptual Rekonsiliasi oleh John Paul Lederach yang selanjutnya akan menjelaskan upaya yang telah dilakukan oleh kedua negara melalui keberadaan variable serta energi sosial (Truth, Mercy, Justice dan Peace). Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sejumlah upaya rekonsiliasi telah dilakukan oleh kedua negara namun terdapat hambatan utama terkait pengakuan kebenaran, penegakkan keadilan serta kurangnya keterlibatan seluruh pihak secara inklusif pada pembentukkan dan pelaksanaan upaya-upaya tersebut.
English Abstract
This study aims to determine what efforts have been made by Japan and South Korea in the reconciliation process related to the Comfort Women issue from 1990 to 2015. This research is important to do since the Comfort Women issue being an obstacle for the two countries on forming post-war peaceful relations, the Comfort Women issue has becomes a part of the reconciliation process that needs to be reviewed to understand further the dynamics of the reconciliation process between the two countries. This study uses the Conceptual Reconciliation Framework by John Paul Lederach which will then explain and evaluate the efforts that been made by the two countries through the existence of variables and social energy (Truth, Mercy, Justice and Peace). The results of this research indicate that a number of reconciliation efforts have been carried out by both countries but there are major obstacles related to recognition of truth, enforcement of justice and the lack of inclusive involvement of all parties in the formation and implementation of these efforts.
