Abstract

PT.

English Abstract

PT. Prastiwahyu Tunas Engineering (PTE) is a company engaged in the field of electrical power equipment that manufactures low voltage panels with two types of products named free standing panel and wall mounting panel. PTE has a warehouse to store consumable to guarantee continuity of production process. A condition where supply exceeds demand of consumable components was problem faced by PTE because consumable components had no safety stock and inventory limit or maximum stock of components. On the other hand, components had to fit with their critical levels. PTE had classified components using FSN analysis, but based on intuition. Incorrect FSN classification allowed errors in the calculation of components inventory control. This research was conducted to classify components reviewed based on movement of components and annual volume value by using FSN analysis and ABC analysis. Based on the matrix of FSN-ABC component classification, there were 6 critical components which belong to AF and BF class in terms of quantity of usage and value of company investment to those components which were Cable NYAF 1 X 1.5 Black, Cable NYAF 1 X 2.5 Black, Cable NYAF 1 X 4 Black, End Stop DSE Gray Local, Scoen Ring SC 10-6 Polos Local, and Mur M6 Local. Safety stock and target stock level of critical components were determined by using periodic review method (R, S) system. The determination of the value of the safety stock and the target stock level (maximum stock) of the components were based on the historical data of the company, while the determination of the interval order was done every 4 weeks as it followed the schedule of the company's stock review because periodic review means the inventory on hand is counted at specific regular intervals and an order is placed at company's stock review. The output obtained was to compare the total cost, service level, and inventory level of existing policy with periodic review. The result of this research indicated that inventory level with periodic review policy decreased but can achieve 100% service level which impact on increased efficiency. It indicated that total inventory cost using periodic review policy of each component of NYAF Cable 1 X 1.5 Black, NYAF Cable 1 X 2.5 Black, NYAF Cable 1 X 4 Black, End Stop DSE Gray Local, Scoen Ring SC 10-6 Polos Local, and Mur M6 Local decreased compared to existing total cost with percentage of 23,45%, 52,87%, 30,49%, 50,77%, 44,54%, and 26,85% respectively. The decrease in inventory cost as a whole was quite significant with a decreased total inventory cost percentage of 61,24%.
