Abstract
Biomassa lignoselulosa merupakan bahan baku yang tersedia melimpah untuk memproduksi senyawa-senyawa turunan furfural, misalnya furfuril alkohol. Penelitian ini, senyawa furfuril alkohol diperoleh melalui reaksi hidrogenasi katalitik senyawa furfural menggunakan autoclave batch reactor. Dalam reaktor tersebut, reaktan diuapkan dan dialiri gas H2 bertekanan 20 psi, dan reaksi dilangsungkan dengan variasi suhu 170C dan 200C, dengan variasi waktu reaksi 2 jam dan 4 jam. Pelemahan ikatan karbonil akibat penambahan logam katalis dideskripsikan secara kuantitatif melalui perhitungan energi pemutusan ikatan dengan metode Density Functional Theory (DFT). Analisis produk hidrogenasi menggunakan GC-MS menunjukkan bahwa reaksi hidrogenasi menghasilkan produk utama furfuril alkohol. Suhu reaksi 170C menggunakan katalis 10% dan 15% selama 4 jam diperoleh konversi furfural sebesar 99,166% dan 88,386% dengan selektivitas furfuril alkohol sebesar 0,444% dan 2,193%.
English Abstract
Lignocellulosic biomass is an abundantly available feedstock for producing furfural derivatives, such as furfuryl alcohol. In this study, alcohol furfuryl compounds were obtained by catalytic hydrogenation of furfural compounds using an autoclave batch reactor. In the reactor, the reactant was evaporated and flowed H2 gas at 20 psi, and the reaction was carried out with temperature variations of 170OC and 200OC, with variations in reaction time of 2 h and 4 h. The attenuation of the carbonyl bond due to the addition of the catalyst metal is described quantitatively through the calculation of the bonding energy by the Density Functional Theory (DFT) method. Analysis of hydrogenation products using GC-MS indicates that the hydrogenation reaction produces the main product of furfuryl alcohol. The reaction temperature of 170OC using a catalyst of 10% and 15% for 4 hours obtained furfural conversion of 99.166% and 88.386% with furfuril alcohol selectivity of 0.444% and 2.193%.
