Abstract

Penelitian ini mempelajari pengaruh pH dan pengaruh konsentrasi larutan hipoklorit terhadap adsorpsi hipoklorit menggunakan adsorben karbon aktif tempurung kelapa dengan aktivator NaOH 15% (w/v). Uji pengaruh pH terhadap adsorpsi dilakukan menggunakan 0,1 g adsorben dan larutan hipoklorit 700 mg OCl-/L pada pH 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, dan 12,74 selama 150 menit. Uji pengaruh konsentrasi hipoklorit dilakukan dengan menggunakan 0,1 g adsorben dan larutan hipoklorit pada konsentrasi 200, 300, 500, 700, dan 800 mg OCl-/L selama 150 menit pada pH optimum. Konsentrasi hipoklorit sebelum dan setelah diadsorpsi ditentukan secara volumetri iodometri. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh pH optimum adalah pH 6 dengan jumlah OCl- yang teradsorpsi sebanyak 54,8%. Pada uji pengaruh konsentrasi hipoklorit, bahwa meningkatnya konsentrasi yang digunakan maka massa yang teradsorpsi juga meningkat, dan kapasitas adsorpsi maksimumnya 400 mg/g.

English Abstract

This research studied the effect of pH and concentration of hypochlorite solution on hypochlorite adsorption using NaOH 15% (w/v) - activated carbon from coconut shell as adsorbent. The effect of pH on adsorption was done using 0.1 g of adsorbent and hypochlorite solution of 700 mg OCl- / L at pH 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, and 12,74 for 150 min. The effect of hypochlorite concentration was performed using 0.1 g of adsorbent and hypochlorite solution at concentrations of 200, 300, 500, 700, and 800 mg OCl- / L for 150 min at optimum pH. Hypochlorite concentrations before and after adsorption were determined by iodometric volumetry. The result showed that the optimum pH was at pH 6 with the adsorbed OCl- amount was 54,8%. Furthermore, increasing the hypochlorite concentration was linear to the increased of the adsorbed mass. The maximum adsorption capacity was 400 mg/g.
