Pengaruh Konsentrasi NaOH Pada Aktivasi Arang Tempurung Kelapa Untuk Adsorpsi Hipoklorit

Refianti, Vista Agnesia (2018) Pengaruh Konsentrasi NaOH Pada Aktivasi Arang Tempurung Kelapa Untuk Adsorpsi Hipoklorit. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

English Abstract

The aims of the research were to investigate the effect of NaOH concentration as coconut shell charcoal activator toward hypochlorite adsorption, and the effect of contact time toward hypochlorite adsorption with NaOH-activated carbon. Charcoal was obtained from heating the coconut shell in a furnace at 6000C with the yield of 19.68% (w/w). Activated carbon was characterized by FT-IR and SEM. NaOH as an activator was varied at concentration 0, 5, 10, 15, and 20% (w/v). Hypochlorite adsorption was conducted at various contact times of 30, 60, 120, 150, and 180 minutes by using 0.1 g of adsorbent and 100 mL of hypochlorite solution 300 mg/L. Hypochlorite concentrations before and after adsorption were determined with iodometric titration. Result showed that coconut shell charcoal activated with 15% (w/v) NaOH optimally adsorbed hypochlorite solution. Equilibrium adsorption was reached at 60 minutes.
