Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk membandingkan profil kualitas fisika kimia air di lahan sawah padi organik dengan konvensional, menentukan profil struktur komunitas dan diversitas fitoplanktonnya, serta menentukan tingkat pencemaran bahan organik dan status trofik perairan di sawah padi organik dibandingkan dengan konvensional berdasarkan indeks biotik dari fitoplankton sebagai bioindikator. Pengambilan sampel air dan fitoplankton dilakukan di perairan Sawah padi organik dan konvensional Desa Sengguruh, Kec. Kepanjen, Kab. Malang. Sifat fisika kimia air yang diukur meliputi suhu, DO, pH, turbiditas, dan konduktivitas. Struktur komunitas fitoplankton yang dihitung antara lain nilai Indeks Nilai Penting (INP), beberapa indeks diversitas meliputi Indeks Diversitas Shannon-Wiener (H’), Margalef (dMg), Simpson (D), dan Indeks Dominansi Simpson (Id). Penentuan status trofik dan tingkat pencemaran bahan organik berdasarkan indeks biotik Trophic Diaton Index (TDI) dan Percentage Tolerant Value (%PTV). Kedua perairan sawah padi memiliki kualitas yang baik berdasarkan nilai pH, namun kurang mendukung kehidupan fitoplankton di dalamnya berdasarkan parameter suhu dan turbiditas. DO pada sawah padi organik lebih baik dibandingkan konvensional. Terjadi kodominansi oleh Synedra sp. dan Navicula sp. di sawah padi organik, dan kodominansi oleh Gomphonema sp., Cyclotella sp., dan Crysophyte stomatocyst di sawah padi konvensional. Kualitas perairan di sawah padi organik lebih baik dibandingkan sawah padi konvensional berdasarkan semua indeks diversitas. Sawah padi organik dikategorikan sebagai perairan yang bersifat eutrofik dengan tingkat pencemaran bahan organik ringan, sedangkan perairan sawah padi konvensional bersifat eutrofik sampai hiper-eutrofik dengan tingkat pencemaran bahan organik sedang berdasarkan nilai TDI dan %PTV.

English Abstract

The purpose of this research is to compare the profile of chemical and physical quality of water in organic and conventional paddy fields, estimate the community structure profile of phytoplankton, and determine the pollution rate and trophic status based on phytoplankton as bioindicator. The determination of water quality was done based on some biotic indices of phytoplankton as bioindicator. Sampling of water and phytoplankton was conducted in the organic and conventional paddy field at Sengguruh Village, Kepanjen, District of Malang. Physic and chemical parameters that were measured were temperature, DO, pH, turbidity, and conductivity. The phytoplankton community structures were analyzed based on its important value index, some diversity index such as Shannon-Wiener (H’), Margalef (dMg), Simpson (D), and Simpson Domination Index (Id). Determination of water quality was based on Tropic Diatom Index (TDI) and Percentage Tolerant Value (%PTV). The result showed that water physics and chemical quality in both paddy fields had a good quality based on pH value, but less support the life of phytoplankton based on temperature and turbidity parameters. Water dissolved oxygen in organic paddy field was better than the conventional paddy field. We found 22 species of phytoplankton. Phytoplankton in organic paddy field was dominated by Synedra sp. and Navicula sp., but in conventional paddy fields was dominated by Gomphonema sp., Cyclotella sp., and Chrysophyte stomatocyte. Water quality in organic paddy field was better than conventional paddy field based on H', dMg, D, and Id. Organic paddy fields were categorized as eutrophic waters with lightly organic pollution level, whereas conventional paddy fields were eutrophic to hyper-eutrophic with moderate organic pollution level based on TDI and %PTV values.
