Abstract

Efek medan listrik terhadap makhluk hidup telah banyak diteliti. Penelitian tersebut meliputi efek medan listrik AC maupun DC terhadap tanaman pokok. Efek medan listrik terhadap tanaman pokok diharapkan memberikan pengaruh positif berupa percepatan pertumbuhan pada tanaman tersebut. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan tanaman pokok spesies jagung (Zea Mays L. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisa pengaruh medan listrik terhadap pola dormansi dan germinasi biji jagung dengan harapan dapat mempercepat pertumbuhannya. Penelitian ini memiliki 5 perlakuan yaitu efek variasi intensitas medan listrik DC dan AC, efek variasi waktu medan listrik DC dan AC, serta efek variasi frekuensi medan listrik AC. Masing – masing perlakuan memiliki 5 variasi yang berbeda ( Variasi Intensitas DC 2 kV/m, 3 kV/m, 4 kV/m, 5 kV/m, 6 kV/m, AC 313 V/m, 346 V/m, 412 V/m, 570 V/m, 620 V/m; Variasi lama waktu DC dan AC 30 menit, 60 menit, 90 menit, 120 menit, 150 menit; Variasi frekuensi AC 100 hz, 200 hz, 300 hz, 400 hz, 500 hz). Masing – masing variasi menggunakan 30 biji jagung dengan total 780 biji jagung digunakan ditambah sampel control. Hasil Penelitian ini mengambil data jumlah benih yang telah muncul akar pada masa dormansi dan data panjang akar, batang serta berat biji pada saat masa germinasi. Hasil percobaan diketahui bahwa waktu dormansi dapat dipercepat pada semua perlakuan kecuali variasi intensitas medan listrik AC. Pada masa germinasi semua perlakuan memiliki efek memperlambat kecuali variasi lama waktu DC 90 dan 120 menit yang lebih cepat dibandingkan dengan kontrol.

English Abstract

Effect of electric field on living things has been widely researched. The study included effect of AC and DC electric field on human, animal, and plant or crops. Effect of electric field on crops expected to accelerate growth. One type of food crop that must be studied is maize (Zea Mays L) because maize is one of the most consumed crops in Indonesia. The Purpose of this study is to analyse effect of electric field on dormancy and germination period of the seed in hopes of being able to speed it up. This study has 5 treatments (AC and DC electric field intensity variation, Length of exposure time of AC and DC electric field, and variation of frequency). Each treatment has 5 different variation (Intensity variation DC 2 kV/m, 3 kV/m, 4 kV/m, 5 kV/m, 6 kV/m, AC 313 V/m, 346 V/m, 412 V/m, 570 V/m, 620 V/m; Variation of Exposure time DC and AC electric field 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes, 120 minutes, 150 minutes; variation of frequency AC 100 Hz, 200 Hz, 300 Hz, 400 Hz, 500 Hz). Each variation uses 30 seeds with total of 780 seeds. In the dormancy period, data were taken of the number of seeds that had appeared its roots. In the germination period, the data recorded were seed weight, root length and stem length. The experimental result show that all variations can accelerate the dormancy period of the seeds except for variation in the intensity of the AC electric field. The electric field effect during germination period of all treatments has a slowing effect except for variation in time (DC electric field 90 minutes and 120 minutes)
